I would recommend talking to the local schutzhund club. Realistically learn obedience training before going near protection training. It takes an experienced handler and trainer to train stable protection dogs. I have trained my dogs and other in protection.

I learned to train in obedience through apprenticeship and learned protection through clubs and apprenticeship. You can go to school but you can't learn without real life experience.

This type of training doesn't happen over night. You need to expect to be training at least 2 years before anybody should trust you to train their dogs. I trained for 4 years before I trained dogs independently.

Good luck

These days, honestly, you would really just need to go to a certified training school to get this sort of education. In the past, dog trainers could just work with another trainer and apprentice for a while, and they would be fine, but today, most places who hire trainers require that you are actually educated by some sort of organization with credentials. There are lots of different training academies and school around the United States, but I do not know where you live, so that may not apply.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/ZdQ1J

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

www.germanshepherddog.com is the USA schutzhund website. They have a link on their helper program.
The vvdh has one too, but I cannot find the american website.

Yay! A new helper!

The USA website can help locate the club nearest to you!
