I live way out in the country, over 150 miles from a vet. The closest vet wants $300 to put my 15 your old sheppard to sleep. She is really starting to suffer. Is there any humane way I can do it myself. Please animal lovers, don't scold me here. The dog is old, she had a great life as evident by living 5 years past the average for her bread. I love my dog and wish to end her suffering painlessly. I have no resources to do it at the vet, so what other options do I have?

I have heard that a dog's mouth is cleaner than ours and that they have healing properties in their saliva. I was wondering about this because my dog is a licker, he loves to lick your face and it freaks me out when the kids let him lick their faces because, like all dogs, he is always licking his crotch and his butt and eating gross things outside.

We have to find new homes for our cats--my husband & children can't live with them any more due to allergies. Any suggestions on finding them good homes? I've already worked my family and friends to no avail.

Just curious if there is such a by-law out there and if it has been successful or harmful. I notice a lot of dogs that come into shelters are 'chain dogs' that break free. In personal experience the dogs are fairly weathered, and not well cared for. Any thoughts?

I REALLY want a yorkie puppy but my mom isn't into dogs(but my dad and brother are). Im 15 and I really think I am responsible enough to take care of one....but since my mom doesn't like dogs she won't even consider it.

Is there anything i can do to convince her, or is it just a lost cause?

Thanks.

i just want a family pet that is pretty content with playing with another dog in the arcrege or backyard it has at its disposal. i want a dog that is always happy to see me when i come home from school and always ready to go to the dog park or a 1 hour walk in the morning and evening. i want to paly feach, frisbee and an ocational game of tug o war. i dont want a small yappy dog , but i dont want a dog who can easly run over me or knock me down. i want a dog who will protect me if i needed it to. i want a dog who will be like a gardian and a best friend. it is ok if he chases birds and squrrials. which breed is right for me, and dont say a sheep or a cat please.

We have a gorgeous Staffy that we would never part with. Problem is she is 3 years old and needs a lot more excersise than we bargained for.(we are OAP's) She needs a playmate to have tug of wars with ('cos it nearly rips your arm out of its socket) What would be the best breed? Same or other?

I have a 3 yr old black lab. he is a great dog except..... Over the past two weeks when ever the children play rough and run around screaming as children and thier friends will do, he gets aroused and starts to hump anything or anybody in sight. He is a big dog over 100 lbs and I have all girls. I know to have him fixed would solve this problem but we do breed him. So my question is why is he doing this all of a sudden and what should we do to curb this behavior?
