I have a house but work long hours...so the dog would be left alone with no human or animal interaction. I've never had a dog before, but would like some companionship, Would a dog be suitable ...or should I just get a goldfish!

I have a female dog who is beyond beautiful, and I can just imagine what her pups would look like. She can from the Humane Society, and of course they fix their animals. Can the work they have done be reversed, or is it permanant? Thanks.

I am trying to find a good tasting and healthy treat for my puppies and I can not seem to find any. What would you suggest and why?

Thank you.

My dog and i have telepathy between us.When she wants something, she tells me with her eyes. She will stare at me and then when she gets my attention, she actually tells me what she wants. If she wants to go out for the toilet, she will sit in front of me and stare till she gets my attention, then she will slowly move her eyes to the door, then back to my eyes, she will do this until i let her out.If she wants me to fluff her cushion up for her she will do the same thing, when i have done it she will lie down and get comfortable. If she is a bit depressed,i can tell by her eyes, then i bathe her and massage her joints, she soon feels better. There are many other things she asks for by doing this. She never barks just stares.Does your dog have their ways of talking to you?

I have a four year old Jack Russell that I've had for 7 months. He's a great dog but he barks incessantly at (seemingly) nothing.

I would never use a shock collar on him, but I'm considering the sonic sound wave collars and possibly citronella collar.

Are these cruel? Are they in any way dangerous? Are they effective? Would a vet or experienced trainer condone these things?

Thanks

A couple weeks ago my dad and i got a new dog, a doberman pinscher, and she seems to be very aggressive, we give her love and care and enough food and water sometimes a little treat or two. But one day she was sleeping and I came to pet her and she was growling at me and she snapped at my dad. He grabbed the blanket she was in and she went tottaly nuts! she growled and snapped and slobbered all over the place! What is wrong with her? Se has gotten all her shots and is fixed. and she is the only pet we have. What is wrong? Oh and when she did is she wasn't tired because she did it once when she was fully awake and out of her blankets.

I took my dog to the vet today for his annual shots and told them he has breath that could knock over a horse even though he's only ten pounds. They said I could have his teeth cleaned for $180 but they have to put him out to do it. I don't have to leave him overnight tho. Has anyone had this done? He's a small dog so he doesn't run around outside by himself like a bigger dog, chewing on random things that the Vet said would otherwise naturally clean his teeth. His breath is really really bad for such a small mouth and the teeth are getting brown in places. I guess I should have had this done sooner but can anyone give me any input?

I am considering buying a Cairn Terrier from a breeder in Oregon who has been showing her line of dogs for 20+ yrs. Does anyone have experience with these dogs? I have been told they are good family dogs and we have a 4 yr old daughter. We have a VERY small yard so a big dog is not an option. Someone recently said, "why would you want that dog their hair is so wirery - yuck!" Any feedback is appreciated! I have ruled out the mini schnauzer, west highland terrier and a couple others...(I am a terrier lover) but I am close to purchasing this one.

It's a male, and was just born, barely can open its eyes. It's red or redish? If that matters at all.

My dog Skeeter Bug is...well....basically puking water-like substances. If anyone could tell me what to to or whats is wrong with her it's be a great help. I don't know if it's just a thing with age or not, but, if it helps, she is quite old and we got her from the pound many many years ago.....we suspect she's aleast half Dingo.
Thanks,

Which one works better? I've heard pro's and con's of both.
In case it makes a difference they are a male and female American Eskimo's.

Any additional training suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks, everyone!

I've never seen anything like this before, so maybe someone can give me their opinion. I have a Shih Tzu who had a litter of pups exactly 6 weeks ago. The pups ALREADY have a mouth full of teeth! I guess it was the puppy milk I fed the mom:) but now they're able to eat puppy food and are eating it. But they also want their mommy's milk and she can't resist letting them latch on. But moments later, she's yelping because they're biting her! What should I do? Keep them separate? Let them bite her? Or maybe just put a baby onesie on her so they can't get to her? Anyone with Shih Tzu weaning experience is welcome to give your opinion! Thanks.

I have a 9 month old mixed breed dog. She is a perfect angel when we are home, but as soon as we leave she gets into EVERYTHING! She has chewed furniture, carpet and many, many other things. She knows she is doing wrong because as soon as we get home she hides and ducks, even though we dont hit her, we just point out what she did and tell her its bad very sternly. I dont know what to do, I've seen people suggest the sprays, but we cannot spray everything in the house. What can I do?
