Dogs shed to get rid of dead hair and skin cells. We shed everyday too.
There is no way to make them shed faster, but you can brush them daily to keep the hair around the house down.
You can help minimize shedding by feeding a high quality diet as well. Innova Evo and Canidae are a couple such foods.
If your dog is "blowing" coat, mass shedding of both layers if its a double coated breed, usually occurring around spring and fall. The only thing you do is brush more frequently and wait it out.

Every living thing with hair sheds - including people. It's how we get rid of dead or damaged hair. Brushing your dog will help him shed faster, but generally, dogs will shed to some dregree all year long.

We shed too, we just tend to notice theirs more because it isn't ours! Get a brush a brush them, that keeps the shedding down, and most of them love it...Bessie "purrs (it sounds like) when I brush her. They're fixing to shed their winter coats too, so you're going to see more of it. Keep a lint brush or roller handy too-very conveinient!
