i have 2 german shepherds, they had a litter of one puppy. a friend of mine now owns her, she is 17 months old and has never had a heat cycle. we are concerned there is a medical reason for this. has anyone had this problem before. she is NOT spayed. could it be normal for her not to have a heat cycle before 2 yrs old? thanks

My dog had all the symptoms of Eclampsia and my Vet charged us $200.00 and told us she was asthmatic. I of course took her to another vet for a second opinion and they diagnosed her with Eclampsia. Do you think this was a simple mistake or should I get rid of that Vet? I would think that calcium deficiancy would of been the first thing to come to his mind considering the large litter size of my chihuahua. I guess what I really want to know is if this is a common misdiagnosis and should I give my Vet a second chance.

How can I teach my dog to fetch. He doesn't give the toy back and if I go to him (which isn't even fetch) he runs and starts to play keep away. The keep away game isn't good because then he even runs out of the house thinking we're still playing sometimes.

Ok, im 15, but if i wanted to know if its possible to get a job at a vets office?
I get my license in a couple months, and a vet lives really close by me around the corner, but i was wondering if they hired regular people? not just vets.

Im really good with animals, exotic&domestic, I have been raised with them, and taken care of every kind of animal that you can think of like, elephants, lions, tigers, bears, dogs, cats, birds, snakes, monkeys, lemars, squirrels, kangaroos, ect ect ect ect., the list goes on forever... . My familey works in the circus, but right now im home going to school, bc my mom always wants us 2 have an option of staying home,or going on the road.
So i was just wondering. I cant explain to you guys on how much i know about animals. Adults call me all the time and ask for my advice, and help. Also every few weeks I go work for my godmother who owns circuses and zoos. And she makes me work with the exotics bc i know so much. And i really want to work for a vet!

He's been bad since this morning and all the local vet offices are closed until monday. I'd love to have some piece of mind until then. Both of his front legs are bowing outward at his wrists as he tries to sit or stand. The legs then quiver as he tries to shift the weight back and forth and not collapse. It didn't seem that bad before, but its to the point where he can't seem to sit or stand comfortably. Being a puppy, I can't get him to relax and take it easy, so he's making it worse by running around and jumping. He doesn't seem to be in pain, but is obviously uncomfortable. He's a 3 month old lab/retriever that I got from a rescue 5 days ago. They didn't notice a problem before and don't know of any injury. Is there an actual vet out there that can tell me something to ease my mind?

Hi, I adopted a 10 week old puppy from the animal shelter on thursday. They believe, and so do we, that she was abused by people and other dogs. There are scars on her body. We set up a cage for her, and she loves it. But she wont come out and play. We have a 6 month old German Shorthaired Pointer who is well behaved. Our new puppy, Copper, just wont play. When we do get her out, she will only crawl around and keep her head down. When around other dogs, she growls at them and bites them. Our GSP, Zolten, is trying to be friends but Copper wont allow her to get close. This is the 3rd day we have had her and she got better, but today she totally went back to worse then when we got her. We took her out with Zolten and she ran off. We got to her, and she hid cowarding under a tree. Now she wont go near my boyfriend (who yelled at her). Does anyone have any ideas cuz we might have to give her back to the shelter if she doesnt get better. We dont want to but if she doesnt get better no choic

I need to find a organization that trains and gives trained canines to people with special needs based out of Ohio. I have never looked into getting one before so I have no clue where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am thinking about using NuVet Plus on my dogs, it is all natural Vitamins, but I need to know if it works before I spend $62 on this stuff. I want to know if it works on Pit Bulls, please don't leave negative answers, I do not want to hear your "don't buy pit bulls, they are bad, aggressive, mean...ect." crap! I have 2 purebred UKC registered pits, leave your speech for someone who fights their dogs! Everyone else, please feel free to help with any info you have. Thanks.

She is so much smaller then the others. She is having a hard time breathing and is not suckling at all. Cocoa (mom) is not really paying attention to her so I am trying to keep her warm and tried a few drops of puppy formula. Should I keep her seperate from mom and the others and try to save her on my own or should I return her to mom and see what happens. I would hate to loose her...she is such a beauty! Any advice would be great!!
Thank you
Janine

Some of the breeders are offering to sell some of their dogs, but I really don't want to bother them if the dogs cost several thousand dollars. I have owned several purebred dogs, just not a rare breed.

The carpet is ruined (we're saving up to get it replaced) and the house is getting stinky. I clean every day but yeah. Its just no use.

I've tried doggie pads that you place in the floor but they don't work, and I'd really hate to keep them locked up during the day or something. Can anyone give me an alternative?

We Just bought a 1 yr old collie dog and she looks as if she has been mistreated ( she is extremely thin, and cowers down to the floor) the old owners told us she is fully house trained, but since we have had her she has pee'd on the lounge carpet a few times, is this just a new surroundings thing and will she stop doing it ? How can we incourage her to stop !!!!!
