I think it's time to find another kennel, there are good ones and bad ones but nothing is like home. Can't you get a friend or relative to watch your dog? Some dogs are just too sensitive to handle being in a kennel.
I worked in one and you wouldn't believe how much stress these animal are under after their family members drop them off to go to work or on a vacation. These dogs pace back and fourth crying, barking and panting all day and the small ones are shaking in a corner of their pen while being terrorized by all the big dogs inches away from them in the next pen.
Twice a day I would take each one out separately to an outside play area. They would finally calm down a bit but after the 15 minutes was up I would take them back to their pen of steel and concrete. Big dogs would be barking furiously, some slamming their bodies against the pen while I walked some poor pathetic 8 to 12 pound dog past them. Can you imagine what these little dogs were going through?
I had to quite working there because I couldn't stand to see so many stressed out animals. I would never take my dog to a kennel no matter what. I plan my vacation around her and we have a great time together.
I know some people have no choice because of their lifestyle and that may be your case so maybe you can find some other arrangement for your dog. She sounds like she might be suffering from separation anxiety and is a bit confused and unsure when she will have to leave again. It's not unusual for dogs to refuse food and shiver when under extreme stress.

This is actually VERY normal for most dogs. Dogs are often extremely excited once they return from time away from you. Dogs deal with this differently ... some eat less, some eat more. Some won't drink, some drink to excess. Psychogenic Polydipsia (which is basically "excitement eating or drinking") is common for dogs after a stressful situation. Even in the best boarding facilities, dogs will experience some stress that will cause them to act differently for awhile once they return home. Perhaps she picked up a virus of some sort while away? When you have a large number of dogs in a relatively small area, illnesses get passed around (like little kids in school ... one gets sick, they ALL get sick). See your vet to be sure it's not a severe medical issue, call the kennel and ask if they noticed anything different/odd about your dog while he was boarding. Any decent boarding facility will keep track of things like elimination (going to the bathroom), consumption (eating/drinking), and any odd behaviors or possible medical issues they noticed.

Good luck!

Dogs are pack animals...you are the head of the pack as, the provider of everything they need. It's like taking your child to stranger for a few days and expecting everything to be just fine when the child gets home. Pet's are kid's with fur!!!!!! Can't a realitive help out? A neighbor? Pay them instead!

Shivering and refusing to eat are signs of stress. Must she go to the kennel? It sounds like she'd rather not.

Instead of taking her to the kennel try to get a pet sitter, there are many pet people out there.

Have you considered that the kennel you take her to is bad and that she is being treated badly. Her anxiety is over the top I think

Try leaving her at home if possible, sounds like she's stressed. Two of my females acted like that after just one night in the vets office after spaying.
