No. We've always had dogs. I can remember one of my mum's dogs, who was sitting in front of my mum, simply leaned right backwards and looked at me upside down, without turning round! It was quite funny. My mum had just been telling her a whole list of people who loved her - she then did this and looked at me and my mum said "Yes, she loves you too!"
To the comment about sharks not being able to look up - really? I find that hard to believe because I did read that sharks normally attack from beneath their victim, who's been silhouetted against the surface. If sharks couldn't look up, how could they operate like this? I think this is another myth.

If it is... then I'm not seeing the planes that my dog is barking at and the police helicopter that keeps us all awake as she barks furiously at it skyward:-)
What a load of rubbish some people peddle about animals!
Of course they can look up, see colour... and mine watches television intently joining in whenever a guy hits a female, she attacks the screen!
Former dog trainer in my youth;-)

Why don't you ask the cats, raccoons, and opossums that have waited hours for the dogs standing under trees looking up at them this question and see what they think?
