best to catch him in the act then he will more understand why he is getting into trouble. when my pup goes in the house and I do not catch him in the act I clean up the mess fabreeze it and go on its pretty much useless to discipline him after the fact. if I catch him in the act I spaz on him with my emotions and get him outside try and stay with him till he finishes and praise him any time he goes outside. dogs can feel emotion from their owners and it goes along way I really have not noticed a huge difference in a pet that has been spanked or hit other than they begin to shy every time someone goes to pet them and then they dribble. it takes a while to potty train a dog so whatever you do realize it won' happen overnight. crating your dog at night will likely keep the mess out of the house but if he begins messing in his cage you will have to tend with that next but it will keep him indoors at night. good luck

Hitting him when you find the poo is useless, he has no idea he's doing something wrong. You must take him out on more frequent walks, until he poos, and say good boy, well done and pet him when he does it outside. If you do that for a month, very consciously, say 5 times a day, after his meals and after he wakes up, you'll see that he'll learn he must wait for his walk, and then the walk will be done less frequently. Sorry if this sounds like a lot of work, but dogs ARE a full time job to be trained. They are not cats!

First of all u need to createe train him. This is the best way. put him in the creat and leave him there. Then take him out to use the bathroom on a pad or out side. If he don't go to the bathroom put him back in the create for about 15 Min's. And then try again by taking him out again. After he did his potty reward him with a treat. You can keep him out and play with him for a while, but then he must go back into the create. Keep this up until it is a habit for him. This works the best for house breaking.

Well by the time you find the poo it's too late for you to correct his behavior. That could be why he isnt learning. If you properly house trained him then your going to have to do a better job of making sure hes taken outside to learn to poo out there. Dogs have to be take outside quite a bit to train them not to poo in the house.
Smacking him will only teach him that you are hurting him.

Maybe you need to take your dog to the vet to rule out a medcial condition. If you have been using puppy pads from the begining then you probably have ruined the chances of teaching your dog to go out, puppy pads teaches them it is ok to go inside.

Well, your dog has shown you that your method is not working, so please stop hitting your dog. Get a crate that's the right size for your dog and crate train him. This is the most clear, most fair, and kindest way to train your dog. The link below will explain how to do this.

You are doing everything wrong. Get a crate and train your dog like you are supposed to. If you cant be bothered, surrender him to a rescue organization. Dogs are companions, not wild animals that live outside.
