Hi, I have a 11 week old shih Tzu and he isn't feeling well. Last night by son was coloring and he must have dropped a crayon and i caught my shih Tzu eating it. It was a red crayon, i think he ate about 75% of the crayon. The crayon is non- toxic.

He was fine last night, running and playing. However this morning I woke up at 6:30, and my Shih Tzu (Nico) was whining and struggling to poo. After 15 minutes of struggling he finally got out a hard piece of poo, it had pieces of red crayon in it. I thought he would be better now, but he is still constantly pooing little amounts, but you can tell he still wants to do more but can't get it out. Also his butt looks red and sore.

I already called my vet and a another vet, and they both told me to wait, because its just a upset stomach and he will pass it, but i am very worried because he is normally very active at this time, but now he is lying down and wants to be alone.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any expert advice?

Oh I feel so bad for your baby. I have three and my one chewed rags and swollered a piece. Do you believe it passed through his system and came out. I think once your baby passes it he will be okay. Give him a lot of water to drink so it will soften his stool. I be he is sore. You can take and give his hind end a bath to relieve the soreness that is from trying to go.Mybe a little vaseline on his hind end would take away some soreness too. He will probably pass the crayon in pieces and he will be okay. It may melt down and soften too. I don't think he will do that again for sure.
Good luck with your baby.

I too have a Shih Tzu. He ate a fallen wrapper off of a deli lunch meat role. My vet said the same thing about passing it and being fine. He was NOT fine. He continued to have many small bowel movements and ended up dehydrated in only two days and spent 3 days in an emergency clinic with a $1700 bill. The bill was no big deal but if I hadn't gotten him there he would not have lived. I hope your dog is fine as this was posted a few days ago, if not, PLEASE get him to an emergency clinic now. Good luck- will say a prayer for him.

I would take your pup to the emergency vet straight away as this sounds more like a blockage rather than a simple tum upset.
