Your puppy poops alot because he is probably being overfed. Puppies are pigs!! You will have to control what he eats. Do not feed him anymore than what he can eat in 20 minutes. You probably need to feed him little meals about 3/4 cup 4 times a day to begin with. Then you can cut it back to three, then 2, then 1 daily feeding. As you cut back the feeding times add a little more food each time. As he grows he won't need to eat as often. He growls cause he is a puppy and he is playing. He is just trying to find his place.
Here are some suggestions: 1) put his food down and give him 20 minutes to eat. If he eats it all don't give him anymore. If he doesn't eat it all take it up anyway and don't feed him again until the next time.. 2) Right after he eats take him outside. Say "Let's go potty." If he poops or pees praise him and give him a treat(puppy biscuit). Or fix an area in the house with newspapers or pee pads and after he eats take him there. It is all about training.
As far as his crate goes-he is going to whine. he is separated from everyone. Try only to crate him at night or when you aren't there with him. By no means use it as a punishment. Also, you can get him a stuffed animal--a little friend--that is a little bigger than he is and put it in his crate with him at night. That may help.
It is really a trial and error experience because you have to see what "works" with him. Most importantly you have to be consistent with what you do with him so you won't confuse him.
You can get a collar and leash at Wal-mart or any department store.

Hi what I would do is let him out till he goes. Don't let him back in the house till he does. When I used to put mine in a cage they used to whine but I put music on for them and it calms them and they don't hear the outside noise. They know I will be back and when I leave I just say I'll be back and they are okay. Don't use the crate for correction because that will have him thinking that is what it is for and will never want in it. You are the pack leader and you have to correct him from the growling. I have a coin can that I use when mine bark and it stops them . You can try that too.Put some coins in a pop can and through it toward him not hitting him .He will get the point that it is a no no, not to growl with you being the mean guy. Be careful Angel don't get hurt. You have to show him you are the boss and you can do it. If not and still have problems I would take him to an obedience school that could help with ideas on how to break him from it.I would try the pet stores for the collar or you could make you own bells on a collar too.
Good Luck
