Have you noticed he is drinking more fluids lately? It is possible for dogs to develop diabetes and I know that one sign of it is accidents in the house and increased urination. Also his bladder just might be as strong as it was and he can not wait until morning. None the less, I would call and ask your vet, it could be a sign of something serious.

I think that something has changed - a dog with (presumably) good habits won't suddenly regress like that without a reason. Go to your vet and explain what your dog is doing - and clean that spot with an enzymatic cleaner like Urine Off or Petastic. Bleach or regular household cleaners will not get rid of the smell, so your dog will still pee there if you just use those.

He might have a bladder infection, causing him to not be able to hold his pee. Or he might have gotten too old to hold it anymore...kinda like those commercials about middle aged people who have "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now." In either case, you should take your dog to the vet for a check up, and tell the vet what's going on.

Something you should be aware of is that dogs generally prefer to relieve themselves in the same area. So a dog that has been used to doing it outside will try to continue doing that, and a dog that has been doing it inside will also try to continue doing that (which is why it's hard to train a puppy to go outside, after the puppy has already been allowed to go inside). That doesn't sound like the case for your dog though, since you said that he generally lets you know, by going to the door.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Chris

Well, he may have some medical problem in which case he should be taken to the vet. He might have diabetes or cancer. It also could be old age. When dogs get old, like humans, they can become incontinent. It may just be a sign of old age. My dog has the same problem.

This could be the start of an bladder infection or worse. Get you guy into the vet and see what he says.

GET HIM TO THE VETS IMMEADIATLEY!!!!!! chances are good your dog is diabetic and all the signs point. does he drink alot? you need to get test done so confirm if so you need to not give her sugary treats and buy a different dog foos probably. insulin shots and pee strips are needed but your vet will set you up if he is diabetic. I hope I am wrong.
