Early Febuary my family had two dogs which have been living together for two years. The younger one is a pitbull mix and grew up here since a puppy. He is the most friendly, caring and loving dog. He and the other dog get along fine.

I live far from town and the two dogs play and have a great time away seperated from other people and the world. The pitbull had never given reason for us to consider getting rid of him, until one day someone brought a dog into our house without asking. The pit bull is very protective of the family and the baby. When this dog came in he bit it and tried to kill it. Lucky the other dog is fine.

We figured the pit was protecting his territory and since the dog came so sudden didnt know how to react.

The pit, I know the breed has a bad rap, protects the baby, licks him and plays with him. I trusted him fine with the baby and other household dog completely.

We tried introducing another dog into the house but the pit growls and barks like mad.

i took her home. i posted posters in the area she was found, reported it to the police and called the pound also. the first week i called the pound the man just took my information. the next week another man answered when i called to check in & started demanding i bring in the dog. he said i had to bring her there for 7 days and then i could take her. i have heard many horror stories regarding pounds euthanizing dogs prematurely etc, so i just can't bring her there. does anybody know the laws for this in nj.

Ok. So i have this big loveable dog who i have hand raised since he was a week old. He is part rotweiler and chesepeak retreiver and he has been neutered. He is 1 year and 3 months old and weighs 97 pounds. Today I was outside playing soccer with him and when i went to kick the ball he lunged at my leg and bit it, then shook it agressively. My problem is he has never done this before. EVER! So it scared me. But my first reaction was to slap him and i did. Then he let go of my leg and just sat there. I then grabbed his nose and looked him in the eyes and yelled, "BAD DOG." I don't want this to happen again and this has made me kind of leary of him. But he is my big spoiled baby and i love him to death so i really need help on what to do to prevent this from happening again.

Also you know those white balls that the grass people spray on your lawn every once in a while? Well, the lawn doctor guy said my pup cant be on our grass property for the next 2 days because the balls are toxic if they are ingested. Is this true? Or should I wait longer before I let her out around our property again? For now i am just taking her down the street for walks instead of putting her in the backyard to go.

I'm fostering a puppy for my sister until she can fully take care of it in June. She comes home most days of the weeks and interacts with it of course. How should I not have the puppy get attached to me but for my sister?

I am having trouble with dipping milkbones into yogurt. The yogurt slides off and if I refrigerate it the yogurt dissolves into the treat itself. Help?I was considering mixing cream cheese and yogurt, but was wondering if it was ok. Is it ok to mix cream cheese and vanilla yogurt to dip my dogs' milkbones in? Will it still taste good?

Rude neighbors. Small cute loud dog is ignored by them, unloved, nervous, runs free and barks all day long. Animal control (including supervisor) refuse to do anything. Ever. Neighbor refuses to do anything. Attorney wants $$$ to even file a restraining order. Hey, I feel sorry for the dog! Should I try to feed/befriend/liberate/other? It's one of those teeny yappers. They leave it home alone all day from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. It's really sad.

Ran out of space there... How much would a great dane, lab, or golden retreiver cost from a reputable breeder. The cost isn't necessarily an issue, it's just a matter of I'd liketo know how much I need saved up for that.

In the Florida/Georgia/Alabama area, if it makes a difference.

My dog is only a year and a half old, but he has flees really really bad. I have tried frontline, the flee soap, but nothing works. He's scratching so much, that he has started to cut open the skin on his face and it causes bleeding. It isn't to bad, but I'm sure it will get worse if I don't find a way to stop it. I need ideas please!!!
