, and I was wondering if it was ok to let him sleep out in his specially constrcuted run outside overnight. He has his house and digging area etc available.

Just go over the area and make sure he can't chew into anything or ruin anything you would get upset over him ruining.

It's perfectly acceptable for him to sleep outside. Just be sure that he always has a dish of water available for him, and also be sure that the run is secure enough so that if something peaks his interest, he can't either chew through it, break it off whatever its attached to, or slip out of his collar. The only other thing to consider would be the area you live in, for purposes where he may get hurt. If you live in a wooded area, you may want to look out for skunks, raccoons, foxes, animals of that nature, keeping in mind he can only move as far as his run will allow him to. And hopefully he's got a rabies vaccine? Or if you live in a city area, you may want to keep an eye out for suspicious people in the neighborhood, or young kids that might try to get into the yard. Of course these are all precautionary measures. And naturally you should be looking out for the weather forecast. If it's going to be hot, be sure he has a shaded area to lay in, if it's going to be too cold, it may be a good idea to bring him in for the night. But otherwise, most dogs are perfectly happy to sleep outside, I see nothing wrong with doing this.

He might chew it up, but my 2 1 year old labbys sleep outdoors when they cant calm themselves by nightime.
