i.e. 3 year old dog is equal to a 21 year old human

I think the first year counts a little more than 7 years because the dog is more mature at 1 year than a 7 yo. at 12 months, I would think the dog is at least a "teenager". Most Vets spay or neuter at 6-7 months so that would be puberty for the dog.

they say that every 1 year for a dog is 7 years for a human but have discovered that it can vary depending on size of the dog. smaller dogs would increase the 7 to 9 and larger may decrease from 7 to 6

it is 7 years for a human year for most dogs but big dogs figure 9 or ten years as they have a shorter life span

If you look at the giant breeds their life spans average 8 to 12 years

large breeds 10 to 14
medium 12 to 16
Small breeds 14 to 18

so that means a giant breed becomes a senior well before a small breed does so the 7 years to one of ours simply does not fit since breeds age at various rates

Take a look at the charts of this page, the second chart looks at various breed sizes when determining age it also provides the method use to calculate

that's variable in accordance to reproduce length and point in existence however the generic 'conventional' is 7 years for each human twelve months - so in the experience that your canines is a million twelve months previous and of regular length, that's at a developmental point like that of a seven twelve months previous human. 2 is almost a fourteen twelve months previous human, etc.. back regardless of the indisputable fact that, that's relative to different issues yet a generic theory. Many large breed canines stay to be approximately 8 - 10 years so as that's 'previous age' for them jointly as that's center elderly for many small canines which will commonly stay into their 1920s.
