Also you know those white balls that the grass people spray on your lawn every once in a while? Well, the lawn doctor guy said my pup cant be on our grass property for the next 2 days because the balls are toxic if they are ingested. Is this true? Or should I wait longer before I let her out around our property again? For now i am just taking her down the street for walks instead of putting her in the backyard to go.

nearly all lawn treatments can be hazardous to dogs so heed the warning. As for marking, yes in fact an alpha female will mark and this is very common. You will not see this necessarily though until you have at least another dog to determine which will try to assume alpha status. I have had and do have to this day a female that is an alpha and goes around the yard marking over where the males have marked. As for exercise, this has nothing to do with the "toy" breed but the breed of dog you have. It is best that you look on the internet under the dogs breed for this info. Some breeds of dogs whether large or small require little exercise, others in large or small require a great deal.

The only time I notice my female marking her territory is when she is in heat.. I think she is letting all the males in town know she is in heat..

I wanted to address this grass doctor thing. The guy who does lawn and know his business, and knows what he is using tells you to keep you dog off the lawn for a few days. But yet you come in here on Yahoo answers as ask here if he is telling the truth.. Yeah I would take the word from people in here over a grass doctor. Like what does a grass doctor know. Trust me you are better off listening to the grass doctor. Just remember who you are getting answers from. Be grateful he was concern about your dog. Most people wouldn't even care.

The white balls you are talking about is fertilizer and yes it is harmfull to animals. Ask the "lawn doctor guy" what kind of fertilizer it is and then you can find out from there how long you must wait by either contacting a vet or reading the back of the bag of fertilizer.

I have a four yr. old female German Shepherd and she marks her territory lol :/ Even when we go for a walk she wants to stop on every street corner to mark. My friend will bring his dogs over to play once in a while w/ mine and they get along great. But whenever one goes to the bathroom she will go over theirs just like a boy dog haha... luckily she doesnt eat their crap to get rid of that scent LOL

As far as the lawn stuff goes I do not know much about fertilizers but I suppose listening to him may not be a bad idea in my opinion.

females do not mark there territory. depending on the breed depends on exercise. and if the expert said toxic do not let your dog on it. it could even get on her feet and she could lick it off
