One of the joys of fostering is the falling in love and getting attached. It is also one of the hazards. I am also a foster mom for a bichon rescue group (smallpawsrescue.org) and I have gotten attached each and every time.
You just have to know that they are going to their forever home and that they are going to be spoiled rotten and well taken care of.
It is all you can do - short of adopting it and keeping it yourself - that is called "flunking Fostering 101".
Good luck!!!!

The bigger issue is that you will become more attached to the puppy than it will to you. You can't help it. They're great companions, love play or cuddly. You're being responsible for it and its behavior.
If you do anything negative it may result in a bad experience for the pup and cause behavioral issues. Just enjoy it and let it enjoy being with you. It's only a few months and you can always go visit at your sisters.
The puppy, unfortunately, won't especially care if it is living with you or your sister and as long as she is interacting on a near daily basis the transition won't be terribly traumatic.

I really don't see that happening. A dog is going to bond with the primary caregiver. My pit bull loves my kids, but I am his person. That is because when we got him at two weeks old, I fed him with a bottle, etc. Now that he is older (5) he still is "my" dog. I do everything for him, feedings, walks, vet, etc. He loves the kids, but he is mine. Maybe your sis should just get another puppy for herself, when she is able to devote more time to it. I stopped working in Feb. and I am home all day now for awhile, Max is more attached to me than ever. Good Luck to you, your sis, and the puppy.

One man dogs are rare. Puppy will become attached to you - and like your sis - once she takes over the primary role he'll get attached to her. If he came from a good breeder he was already attached to them so it won't be the first time he transfered bond.....

I would'nt worry about yhe puppy getting attached.....once your sister takes over he will remember you, but your sister will become number 1 in his eyes again. The great thing is that when you visit you will have a puppy that will show you attention.

what's the matter with the dog getting attached to you? dogs can get attached to more than one person. it will be good for both of you. the puppy needs attention, training and affection. provide that! if you feel lonely after the pup goes back to your sister, go ahead and get a dog (or 2) for yourself!

That would be cruel to the puppy. When your sister cares for it full time it will still like you,or is that what your afraid of??

Its pretty simple, you cant. Dogs are dogs, once you feed them and pet them they love you forever.
