My dog has a skin condition and my vet reccomended that I we see a dermatologist. They were supposed to fax all my dogs medical records over to the dermatology clinic. I called the dermatology clinic to confirm that they had gotten all the paper work and they hadnt. So, i called my vet asking them to re-fax the information and to fax it to me also. At which point they informed me that they dont fax the complete medical records to clients but only to ther vets. I asked, WHY? What do you send to the vets that you dont send to the clinets?they told me that they dont send the vets notes to the client only the basic information and that its their policy, because they dont want cleints confusing things, and going on thr internet and trying to look up the information themselves etc. Is this legal? Should I be able to get all the information about my dog's medical records if i request it? Has anyone come across the same problem?

I'm considering rescuing a large breed dog once I leave the house. Kind of a security factor in the sense of large dogs are intimidating. I already have a papillon *very, very scary, no?* So the big dog needs to be compatible, at least when I'm around to supervise. They'll both be crated when I'm not around.

I'm seriously considering a great dane rescue. if i were to bring one home while he/she was still young I'd assume they could be trained to "playnice."

A lab is second choice, but I dont know how trustworthy it would b around Boo.

Is there any larger breed that would be "perfect?" Anything recently or currently bred for hunting is out.

Also, we're out in the country and I'll have a BIG fenced yard *chainlink, not chicken-wire* if that makes anything better. All animalswill sleep in the house, though.

I understand many dogs can be bought for half of a thousand dollars but I am looking for something that will cost a little less. Know what I mean? I prefer a female because that is what we own now three female dogs.

We have a 4 month old border collie/blue heeler mix, and his gas is horrible. I do not give him table scraps, puppy food only. I have tried 3 different brands of food, thinking it was the puppy food, but it doesn't seem to matter what brand it is, he still has horrible gas. Any suggestions?

I have spoken with their mother about it but she said that her kids are "autistic" showing me their special badges and can't watch them all the time. (They don't live right next to my house but one after) My dogs bite and I don't want her children around them. Just the other day they put their fingers in the fence, poking them with the broom, screaming at the dogs. What shoud I do? I want to be a good neighbor.

What dog breed is best for someone who is allergic to dog hair, wants low hair maintenance & a good companion? I also want a dog that is small enough for me to pick up.

He's 3, he's new to us, and we have been reassured that he is toilet trained! Mostly on the floor, but a couple of times on the sofa. It's more like 'spraying' than 'peing' very often.
I'm learning about dogs on the job (with the help of a few books and friends), but is it normal for an adult dog to spray this much. Is he trying to hide the cat smell?
Should we start from the beginning with potty training again, or will he get used to the house and stop.
(he also sprayed 3 times in the pet shop- we were only in there 10mins- I was so embarrassed!)

I bought wee-pads. Sometimes she uses them sometimes she'll pee or booboo right on side of it. I just sit and laugh, thinking if u wouldve been 4 more inches to the left to the left. I take her outside about 20min after she eats and as soon as I come in the door, she goes to use it, not on the wee-pad. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

Someone has asked if raw chicken is good for dogs and I know from a previous question that this seems to be the best option for feeding chicken to a dog, but is it OK to give them raw liver? My dogs love liver and I usually cook it but today they wanted it raw and got it. Is that OK for them?
It made me want to heave though, that's for sure.
