A general rule of thumb is that a mammal will produce half as many offspring as the number of teats on the mother. Although this rule is altered in domesticated animals since larger litters are often favored for economic reasons and in dogs, particularly, the great range of sizes and shapes plays a role in how many healthy puppies a female can carry. An average litter consists of about six puppies, though this number may vary widely based on the breed of dog. Toy dogs generally produce from one to four puppies in each litter, while much larger breeds may average as many as 12 pups in each litter. The number of puppies also varies with the mother's age and health, the father's sperm count, the timing of the breeding, and many other factors. So know one really knows for sure how many a dog can have for her first litter.

It depends on the size of the dog, but also on the number of brothers and sisters BOTH dogs had. My Golden Retreiver had eleven puppies; she had 9 brothers and sisters and the male dog had 10. My vet also told me that if you breed the dogs multiple times during the same heat, it is more probable that they will have a higher number.

It depends on the breed. If it's a larger breed, I'll betcha money it'll have more pups than a toy breed.

I dont know your specific answer but i don know that younger dogs will have a larger litter than older dogs, and bigger breeds tend to have more pups in general. (for example: a yorkie of my coworker had 4 and that was alot of for as small as she is (teacup) and it was her first litter) Hope that helps somewhat.

There is no set number. A lot depends upon the type of dog she is. A typical estimate is three maybe four.

Well it kinda depends on how many brothers and sisters it had in its litter when it was a baby. It can be pretty close to that.
