I can't believe nobody suggested a Bichon Frise! I LOVE mine. And I have had three of them, so I know it's not just this one. They have excellent personalities, smart, don't chew on things, easy to house break. They don't shed and don't slobber. Their grooming can be a little costly, but brushing them regularly helps with that. I just think they are awesome!

Depends what you want from your dog, where you live, lifestyle and what you mean by "tiny".
Looking at the toy breeds you have the obvious Chihuahua, very sweet but very expensive to buy around £1400!!!
You could look at a Yorkshire terrier, toy Poodle, maltese, dachshound, shihtzu, pomeranion.
All are small breeds but thier capacity to fit your lifestyle also needs to be taken into account and if you contact responsible breeders through the Kennel Club and give them honest information of what you want a good breeder will say if the breed is for you or not. You can also meet thier dogs and see if you really like the breed. Better to do as much homework as you can before committing to 15-20 years of your life.
Good luck!

You will have no problem in finding a tiny dog on this website if you don't plan to go to a breeder.
http://www.petfinder.com/

Put Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Shih Tzu, Poodle, Papillon, Pekingese Rat Terrier, Fox Terrier or Miniature Pinscher in "search" and your zip code. You will find some beautiful tiny or small dogs of all ages some puppies or adults that are purebred and some mix breeds in your area. Most of these little dogs are living in foster homes waiting for a forever home.

If I had to choose I would get a Yorkshire Terrier. They are tiny only weighing 3 to 7 pounds. I like their spunky personality for such a little dog. Here is a profile on each dog with photos. http://puppydogweb.com/currentads.htm

I would share my opinion and say a Maltese. Maltese generally only weigh up to eight pounds. These dogs do not shed and do not drool. The only thing is you have a 50/50 chance of getting a real sweetheart or a yappy dog. These dogs only have one problem and that would having to brush them maybe daily or unless you trimmed them once a week or every two weeks. Some may mention the Chinese Crested and yes these are great dogs but because of lack of fur they have high maintenance with skin care. Maltese not only are shed less dogs but they were kept only by royalty in older times. Even if you find an eight pound to large there are tea cup Maltese weighing two-five pounds. Maltese are great dogs to own and I know because of my mothers dog. I grew up with this dog named Victoria and I know she is still a great dog. I guess one of the best qualities of a Maltese would be their lifespan. Most live to be 18 or 19 but some live 20+ years of age. If you decide on this dog t is important to know your breeder as with any dog. Also try to meet the puppy's mother and possibly father. This will help tell you if you will get a sweetheart or a yappy pup. Finally many of my friends who allergic to dogs have never sneezed while Victoria was in the room. They are truly amazing dogs.
These dogs will never shed not a hair. Unless of course you brush them...because then you are pulling the hair out. Yet for the 8 years of owning Victoria she hasn't shed once.

I can only recommend Westies since that is all I've had. They are immensely loyal but can be very independent (like most terriers) so don't expect blind obedience from them, you're unlikely to get it!

Another advantage of the Westie is that they don't cast. Most dogs have a summer coat and a winter coat and shed there old coat twice a year in preparation. Westies don't do this and therefore need grooming once every 10-15 weeks.

Don't buy! ADOPT! Go to: www.petfinder.org and you can find THOUSANDS of wonderful, healthy small dogs that are already vaccinated, already neutered, some already microchipped for a MINIMAL adoption fee! And you're saving a life! That said, look for a small mixed breed with the characteristics you want.
Shedless: Poodle/terrier mix
Active: Jack Russell or fox terrier mix
Cuddly and cute: Poodle/Pomeranian/Yorkie/Chihuahua mix
Intelligent and easily trainable: Beagle or Daschund mix

GOOD LUCK****PLEASE ADOPT****GOOD LUCK!!!

Ok I think that a Maltese or a poodle would be good. A maltese is one that can be alone for hours and be okay with it, or you can be there with it and play with it and it is okay with that. it doesnt care if it is heald or if it is on the ground.

A poodle is real fun, some people might not like them becasue they think that they are too foofoo and stuff but they really arent like that at all. poodles used to be hunting dogs so they can retrieve good. They (too me) are perfect dogs to have! They are hypoallergenic dogs so you can have allergies and poodles wont bother you at all. They will play sports and they are really awsome dogs. There are toy mini and standard. i think that if you have kids the mini would be the absolute best thing for you. because the toys will tend to just bond with one person in the house and sometimes not like the little kids and be afraid of them becasue some are too rough with them and dont kno how to act with them and the kids can hurt the poodles.

I am 13. I have many poodles. my mom is a poodle breeder. wen she started, we got our first puppy and named him Kissin'. I picked him out and he was supposed to be my dog. and he was the smallest on in the litter. so we got him and he ended up being my moms dog. so then my mom got me a mini and she follows me around EVERY where! When i leave to go to school she lays at the door and waits for me. ive never had a standard b4 but i love the bigger dogs. but if you decide to do a maltese or a poodle, you could go to my moms website. We have one pair of maltese and the rest are poodles.

it depends on if you want to vacum up alot of hair all the time. my mom actually use to breed small dogs, min pin are very aggressive and not good with kids. poms are friendly and they have such a sweetness to them but they have alot of hair. boston terriors are short hair and are very sweet but they tend to snore. probably my favorite small breed of dog would be a pekinese they are adorable but again they have alot of hair. its really up to you. Try to stay away from dogs that are not registered akc they could be a mix breed. Make sure you see both the mom and dad of the puppy because normally if the parents have a temper the puppy will too. Good luck have fun and don't settle for something you really don't want.

My favorite is the Pekingese, however I wouldn't call them tiny. They are about 10-14 pounds. For the teeny tiny dogs, I like Yorkies and Poms.

well that totally depends on what you like.....
Yorkshire Terriers are very cute I may get one soon myself
or the
Chihuahua those come in different kinds in short or longhair.
Malteses are nice but many have a tendency to bite.
You should probably buy a dog book or look up small dogs.
