i recently started training classes with my 8 month male border collie, not because he is badly behaved just because i thought it would do us both good. anyway alfie hates the place to the point where he becomes very aggressive (even towards me) when he is there, shows no signs of aggression any other time, he is a very gentle dog, i actually come away feeling so stressed that i have decided not to take him back, i feel that i am making better progress with him by myself doing things my own way, (that is not to say that the trainer is not any good just not for me and alfie), alfie is very well behaved as a rule but unfortunately i can not seem to master re-call, he just ignores me and runs the other way, which is making off lead exercise extremely difficult, does anyone have any tips on how to get him to come when called, i was hoping to master this at training classes but can't bear the thought of going back.

Getting puppy spayed in 3 weeks. Taking her for blood tests tomorrow just as a precaution, is this a good idea or not. Will it hurt her? One vet says good idea, the other not necessary for blood tests before spaying..I want to make sure she is okay for the surgery. Confused.

I'm asking this question, for a friend of mine that does not have a computer. Her Chihuahua had #3 in her first litter. All healthy with no problems.

I haven't heard of many cases of dogs passing away while sleeping (and please no comments about putting a dog to sleep, this is a different question) and I was wondering if anyone had an average statistic. Thanks!

I posted a question a couple of days ago about my miniature schnauzer vomiting and having diarrhea. I took her to the vet and he gave her 2 shots and something in her mouth. I do not no what he gave her, except one of the medicines was for diarrhea. He told me to bring her back the next day and he repeated the same thing as before. She did not go to the bathroom any after I took her to the vet, and she finally pooped this morning. It actually seemed a little firmer than it has been, but still a little mushy. My concern now is she is not acting like herself. She isn't interested in playing and she does not want to eat. Should I be concerned?

I have a 6 month old Shih Tzu and her paw pads are a little rough. There's no cracks in them, and they don't hurt her in any way. They're just a little rough when you touch them. Is there any product out there that I can put on them to soften them? I heard baby oil/creams work 'cause they're fast absorbing.

There is a dog next door to my family and keeps waking my 16 month old baby boy up at 5 or 6 in the morning, when he usually sleeps in until 9 or 10. I havent gone and talked to them yet, I'm very shy and never know how to handle these situations so how can I ask them to shut there dog up nicely, or is there any legal action I can take if I do talk to them and they dont comply?

Hi!
My dog's skin pigment changed recently. It was just regualr skin color, but now it had Black/brown blotches on it. Her skin looked like this when she was a puppy. Is this nornal? It changed on her belly, thighs and legs. I don't know if it is anywhere elce. Is this something that happens as the season changes?
I'm really worried about her. Thanks!

PATIENT: 9 year old Pomeranian-newly adopted yesterday from a shelter. He was a stray. Don't know if he has ever been heartworm tested and shelter did not test for that.
SYMPTOMS: He does NOT "snort" on the inhale, but has a moist, harsh cough and gags on the exhale. He wakes up about every 1/2 hour coughing and gagging. Excitement does NOT make his symptoms worse. KENNEL COUGH HAS ALREADY HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY RULED OUT. BEFORE you all get excited and tell me to see a vet, I already have an appointment! What is his outcome on these 3 possibiliteis?

While bathing my dog, I noticed that she had a lot of little granules of what looked like dirt under her hair on her skin and even on her ears under the hair. What is this and how can I get rid of it? I couldn't get it off even when I bathed her. I've heard people talk about "flea dirt" before. She doesn't have fleas. Could this be what it is?

I will be flying to pick up my new choco lab pup, and bring her home. Can anyone suggest a good crate to carry her on with me? She will be sitting in coach with me, I already checked Delta restrictions. I was curious is anyone has flown with their pets and if you used one of those plastic crates, a mesh sided carrier, or if you can buy one of those purse looking ones that the dog can poke his head out and see whats going on. I just want to make it the safest and least stressful for my new little fur-baby! ha ha

Thanks in advance
(and anything that is cheap, but does the job? She will soon be too big for it, this is just to bring her home, she will have a bigger crate at house as we will be crate training her)

I will say that they generally start when I get home and I give them a greeting and it always starts after I say, "My darlings". The one I say it to first starts then the others join in.

According to KY laws, it is illegal to kill an animal...unless in defense. I might be wrong but in defense means in the heat of the moment...not 8 hours later. What really upsets me is that the human society for that county will come pick up the dog and humanly put it down...AT NO COST OR STRIKE AGAINST THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her this and she is still gonig to shot the dog in the head. I can not find the number to call the animal control and am at alost. If this dog was attacking their child right now...and the only way to get the dog off is to shot it fine. But if it bites your hand, showing signs of aggression is not in defense 8 hours later. I really just do not understand how ANY human can look a family pet in the eyes and then put a slug in its forehead.
