As of right now she gets up at 4:00 am and goes potty. Then we go to sleep for like 3-4 more hours. Will she ever be able to get up at like 7:00 am in the future once she has more bowel control?

My boyfriend and I have to travel out of state for a wedding and leave our new puppy and older dog for the weekend. We are going to ask a friend to house sit/ dog sit for the weekend and just stay over for the few days we are gone. How much would you pay for someone to do this? $100? more? or less?

The puppy will be 5 months old (chocolate lab) and we have a 4 yr old yellow lab

I'm looking for a puppy/family dog for our family, we've narrowed our breeds to three. Miniature Dachshund, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, or a Beagle. I'd like a dog my kids can play with and also be a calm smart family dog, easy to train and not snappy or aggressive.

I work with a breeder, cleaning cages, what have you. There was an outbreak of Parvo last week.. and everyday before I came home, I bleached my hands, the bottoms of my shoes, anything I could. But last night my 6 month old Lab started throwing up. She won't even wag her tail, she just sits there. Could she have Parvo? We haven't gotten a chance to get her shots yet, they're so expensive in Vegas. We also have a 4 year old coon hound.. (only 1st set of shots..) will it infect her too? what do i do?

My dog is almost 3 1/2 years old and we got her from a puppy. She has used her cage since the beginning. She is never thrilled to go in her cage, but if I throw a treat in there she will go without hesitation. All of a sudden, she started to shake horribly everytime I put her in her cage. And more recently, I noticed that she had a huge scratch on her nose- the cage door and her blanket had blood all over it. I washed everything and it happened it again the next time she went in there. Everyone has told me that something must have changed in her life to freak her out and that is why she is reacting the way that she is, but everything is exactly the same as it was before. I have gone over ever possibility. She has started to hurt herself everytime she is put in the cage, and I do not understand why. I have padded up the cage door so she would not hurt herself, but she just digs in the bottom of the cage until she bleeds. How do I stop this behavior?

My pomeranian absolutley hates me sometimes. He lives with my mom, but lived with me for the first year of his life (he's 3 now). Every time I go over to visit him, he won't let me pick him up, runs away from me, and even snaps at me.

The thing I can think of is that my brother and stepfather think it's funny to tease him when he has a treat (creating food agression) but when he doesn't have a treat he's mean too.

I don't know why he won't let me pet him, he tries to bite me and then runs to my mother. Sometimes he is nice though. I just don't get it.

Yesterday lunchtime i drove my two dogs to a field for dogs. I let them off their leads. about ten mins after i got there a lady arrived with her dog on a lead. My lab went over to say hello and bounced around a bit. He did NOT bark, he did NOT touch the dog in any way. he was just asking it to play. The lady then began to shout at my dog and push him away because he was scaring her dog, i called him and it did take him about 30 seconds before he left to come back. Is this woman unreasonable?? surely if you don't want to let your dog play with others or off its lead then you should not go to a dog walking park??

We just acquired her a month ago, she is spayed & in great health. However, she crawls on top of our female toy poodle, and one of our male cats, and humps them. I keep telling her that "nice girls don't so that", but she just looks at me with her huge eyes and continues to do it. Not that it's harmful, but I would rather she didn't do it. Has anyone else ever encountered this, and what, if anything did you do? No idiotic answers.

My dog just had puppies and saw her eat her placenta. I'm wondering if that means she allready gave birth to all her puppies or could she still have some coming. It kinda looks like she still has a puppy in her stomach but I'm not sure.

My dog is in a cast for a broken rear leg for at least 4 more weeks! Ugh!!!
He is doing very well in recovering however he has started to become well...ticked off! with the cast and all the bandages and padding and has started tearing it apart. There is nothing else wrong and he only does it in the cage at night. He does not chew it another time. He's chewing and ripping little pieces off whittling down the cast a 1/4 of an inch at a time. He goes back to the vet on Friday for stitch removal and rewrap of the cast but I'm looking for find a solution to put on the cast to prevent him from chewing as much as possible. The cast was molded to fit and then cut into sections so they can remove it during his checkups and the is rewrapped with tons of padding and bandages. So it's not a hard outside cast. I tried layers of duct tape last night but he just chewed thru it too. He's getting about a loose handful of debris every night from it.

for anyone who has one, how long did it take for your dog to understand it? we just bought one, and 2 days ago we just laid it out and tested it and put the flags up, and let our 8month old aussie get used to the idea (collar on and activated). she seemed to be terrified of the warning beep and goes running back into the "safe area". yesterday we finished putting it in and again brought her back outside. she might have gotten shocked once chasing the frisbee that went out of bounds, but it might have just been the beep again, we dont really know. but she wont get within 10 feet of the flags. even if we walk outside of the area.

i mean, i know she's a smart dog and all, but seriously, 2 days? i dont think she's THAT smart. i was just wondering how other people are doing with these if they have them. our neighbor got theirs a week ago and the dog is already being left alone. we're not going to leave our dog, its only in the back yard and so she will be able to potty on her own
