i've always fed 2 times a day at about that age....and don't over feed..large breed dogs can get bloat...and if not treated in mins after it happen it could be fatal....so make sure u feed dog on a feeding table so that it is up from the floor.

I would suggest 2-3 times a day. With a Large Breed pup I never feed more than a cup and a half of food at a time (to decrease risk of bloat) so you may need to feed more frequently to address caloric needs. I also only feed an adult formula to prevent panosteitis, and keep the pup relatively "quiet" for 30 minutes after eating. Also, remember to keep your Dobie lean to prevent hip dysplasia!

YAY!!!!!! congrats! I hope you'll be really happy with your dobie!!!! I have them since i was a baby!
Okay, back to my point----
All you need to do is feed him 3 times a day, in the morning 2 cups. Afternoon 1 cup. and dinner half a cup bc he'll be pooping alll night.
And until he gets to about 10 months old. Give him 2 cups in the morning, and 2 at night before it gets dark, and then take him out 1 hour after he eats, so he wont poop in the house.
And for training or ANY problems you could E-mail me any time at all. I can help you over the internet with it so you dont have to spend money on looking for help. I really dont mind. I love helping people, and i know lots about dobermans i can write a book! so be free to E-mail me if you need more help.=]

DO NOT FEED more than twice a day, because in the long run you will suffer bec they will become used to eating 3x a day, and at the same time overfeed your dog. As long as the meal equals a day's caloric intake need, twice will do. And do not give more than the need, you'd think that just because dobs are big they should eat a lot more; remember they also need exercise to burn all those food you'd give; also that the more they eat, the more they poop. In-between treats are better.

1 cup per 10lbs, per day. No more then he/she will start to overfeed. Do 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup at night. Try to keep it at a constant time. (Ex. 7am/7pm)
