I'm a dog lover, and love dogs of all kinds, but I've always owned large breeds. I'm moving to a new city and starting a new job now that I'm about to graduate from grad school, and I'm researching what breed will be best suited to my new lifestyle. I'll never work more than 8 hours in a day, with time to come home on my lunch break, but the 8 hours could be early or late, no set schedule. I think a small dog will do best, as I can train it to use a litter box/puppy pads in the house and not worry about making it home in time for potty breaks. The dog will still get daily walks (30 min. to an hour), plenty of play time, and daily grooming. I've been researching breeds, and I'm most interested in a min. poodle, bichon frise, maltese, or tibetan spaniel. What are your experiences with these breeds, and do you have any suggestions? Please don't suggest other breeds, just help me decide between these four!

We feed him 1/2 cup of mushed food with his formula 4-5 times a day and everytime he eats it is like he is racing to see how fast he can finish his food. I am feeding him per the serving size per weight on the food bag so I know he is getting enough. He is a Great Dane so I know that bloat is common. I need some tips as to how to slow him down while eating.

My puppy (4 months old) has had diarrhea for over 3 weeks now. He was tested twice for coccidia and once for giardia. They came back negative. He was put on anti-diarrheal and switched to a perscription dog food for intestinal problems. After he was done with his anti-diarrheal meds, the diarrhea came back. HELP! The vet doesn't seem to think it's the coccidia or giardia, what else could this be?

I have an 11 week old shihtzu/maltese. He sleeps in his crate, will go all night without making a mess in there and will bark if he has to go so that I can take him outside.
He will be in in his kennel while we are in the room and be completely fine. We can bring him to a friends house and have him in his kennel and will stay there for hours without complaining.

But when he is in his kennel and we leave the house - he will poop in there. He will poop in there even if we just leave for 10min to shower or go outside. And will even go if he just went outside?!

Will he outgrow this? I am thinking he is nervous/anxious or something being alone and so goes poop. Will he get used to knowing that he has to be alone sometimes and will stop? Sometimes our other dog is in its kennel right by him and he will still poop while we are gone. Not pee just poop.

I have a female Jack Russell/Shitzu mix, (her name is Buffy) who's almost a year old and anytime someone is walking down the street or we have company come into the house, Buffy jumps all over them and it's very annoying to both them and me. Is there anyway I can train her to stop doing this? She's very slowly learning how to stay, but when there's a new person to be sniffed or someone to pet her, she doesn't listen to a word I say. Got any ideas?

My Jack Russell Terrier is Terrified of loud construction trucks, they just started doing construction on the road next to my house, it will be going on for 100 days. He shakes constantly and runs around the house knocking things over nonstop! He is 11 years old and seems in good health, but he is driving me nuts and wearing himself out! I am afraid for his health. I dont have any where I can take him. Any good suggestions would be so appreciated. He is climbing on me now, and will be all day. I dont want to just leave him alone. I am not working right now so I dont have to leave him much, but I dont seem to be of much comfort to him. Can you help? He is like a child to me. I love him.

A while back I posted a question about my 7 puppies. I have not been successful in giviing them away. On three seperate occasions, the dog catcher has been to my house concerning the many animals that I have been stuck with. On the last two visits, I asked him to take them. But he didin't. On the last visit, he was also accompanied by the Mayor. I have been very upset at the responsibility I have been stuck with. I have called my deadbeat Husband many times telling him to come and get his dog.
Now, Saturday, a thunderstorm rolled into town, so I brought all the dogs inside. Three hours later, the dog catcher pulls up in my drive way and just sits there. A few minutes later he leaves.
A few minutes ago, I spotted him walking his dog behind my house, and looking at the two dogs in the pen.
I am bothered by all this?
Okay, go ahead and make your jokes at me. Maybe I am being paraniod. You tell me?

I am temporarily living in a campground because of work. Anyways my mother in law came to visit and this campground has a lot of rules on dogs. I have two, a golden retriever and a min pin. To my mother in law it seemed easier to take my goldie outside and brush her hair without putting her on a leash. While she is doing this a man is walking a shih tzu by my camper and the little dog came into our "yard" anyways well my dog decided to run up to the dog and bark at it. You know what most dogs do when there is a strange dog in their territory. Well my dog didn't touch the dog so thats good, my mother in law took my dog and put her away. She apologized to the man and the man was very rude and cussed at her. So then the following day I get a letter from park management saying my dog has to be gone by Friday, March 2. With no warning no phone call or anything. We've never had any sort of problem with my dog. So if anyone has any advise please help
