You need to kennel/crate train him. This will become his "den" and not a prision\jail and dogs won't naturally go in their sleeping place. Unless they can't "hold it" anymore. A general rule of thumb is how old they are is how many hours the can hold it. Like if he is only 4 months old he can only hold it for 4 hours. Otherwise they need to go out when they wake up, before and after they eat, before and after playing/running a lot, and before the go to sleep. Also don't make food avaliable all the time to your puppy. "No Free Feeding!" It makes them get fat! That also increases his chances of having an accident. Puppies under six months of age should be fed three times daily; between six and twelve months old, two times daily; and once per day after twelve months of age. Puppies maturing into adults will naturally decrease the number of feedings per day on their own. By feeding on a set schedule, the dog will then go to the bathroom on a more set schedule and make housetraining easier and faster. Make it a habit to give the puppy some quiet time after the meal. Do not romp and play with him for the first hour to an hour and a half after eating. This can lead to some stomach upsets that can sometimes be very serious. The puppy will probably need to go to the bathroom, however as stated above. I hope I was able to help you. Good Luck with potty training! :)

There are several different things to try. See what works best for you, but remember, PATIENCE.
Crating him when you are not there is probably the quickest way. Take him outside before you put him in there and as soon as you get home. Do not leave him in there for more than 6 hours at a time though.
Without crating: If you are going to be gone less than 4 hours, do not give him water 1 hour before you leave and do not let him have access to water when you are not there.
While you are at home, try to catch him in the process of peeing or pooping in the house and give him a firm "No!" and immediately take him outside.
You could leave newspaper down and see if he will go on there.

If this is a puppy, it's gonna happen. The only thing you can do is get the puppy on a schedule. You have to be consistant though. Same times everyday. This includes the feeding schedule. You have to remain consistant until the dog picks it up. You could try leaving the television on or the radio so the puppy doesn't feel scared and alone. This works for my pets.

Crate training is the best thing. Leave the dog in the crate when you're not home, sleeping or aren't able to completly watch it.

i would try to crate train him! he wont pee or poop in his sleeping spot so if he stays in the crate while you are gone he will learn to hold in until you get home! Both of my dogs are crate trained and it is very nice not to have to worry about them while I am at work! Here try this website it might help you!
