My neighbor is an older lady with a dog and she lets him run loose. My husband left his muddy and cow-crap covered boots outside our front door on our deck and the dog took them and chewed them all to hell. The boots were leather work boots that he has to have for work and cost 130 dollars and is the only pair he has, and the neighbor sent her 10 year old grand daughter over with them to return them to us, all chewed up and unuseable, with no apology or anything. What is the proper thing for me to do here? I'm not going to yell at her grand daughter, but I can't tolerate them letting their dog run loose when he is going to destroy our things. This is the dog's second offense so far and my husband says if she doesn't pin the dog up, he's going to shoot it (which I won't let him do-) we have a leash law in this town of 100 people, but no one to enforce it. Should I go confront her, or should I just chalk it up to experience and let it be?
