If you want a Yorkie and you want a puppy you have every right to get what you want as you are the one that is going to care for it. As far as tea cups go good Yorkie breeders who have show dogs have very small dogs, but they do not like the term teacup! Teacup is a term more often used by those who don't show to distinguish the small dogs they have as those who don't show in general have much larger dogs than those that do. So if you want a nice quality small Yorkie, you need to look for a good show breeder who may have a dog for you. Bellow is a link to the Yorkie club where you should be able to find several to write and ask if they have any puppies.

OK, heres the scoop on puppies labeled as "tea cup"......
THERE IS NO SUCH THING! No kennel club recognizes a tea Cup anything.
Some unethical breeders will intentionally try to breed their smaller than breed standard dogs and call the resulting puppies as Tea Cup, Tiny Toy, Baby Doll, etc just to jack up the price.
A good breeder should only breed to meet the standard, and a good breeder will occasionally get a smaller pup in their litter, but they don't call them Tea Cup. Instead they inform the potential owners that this dog does not meet breed standard and cannot be bred. Many dogs who are very very tiny have serious health issues associated with them.
Please look for a breeder that sells puppies that meet standard to ensure a healthier pet. Below are some breed standard weights for the toy dogs.
Yorkies 4-7 pounds
Maltese 4-7 pounds
Toy Poodle 6-8 pounds
Chihuahua 4-6 pounds
Shih Tzu 7-16 pounds
Italian Greyhound 7-12 pounds
Toy Manchester Terrier 6-12 pounds
Min Pin 8-12 pounds
Pug 14-18 pounds
English Toy Spaniel 8-14 pounds

I have a pure bred Yorkie. She's about 10 lbs. We paid $800 for her 4 years ago and it was the best $800 we ever spent. They are very loving. Not necessarily the best dog for a home with young children. They are active and go need to be groomed ( because they have hair not fur ) so, they don'y shed.
They are very smart ! My Yorkie knows what my cat is allowed to do and not allowed to do. When the cat does something she's not supposed to, the dog lets her know. I want to get another Yorkie, so she can train the puppy.

I looked into this when my mother in law wanted a teacup (or miniature) yorkie. She ended up getting a regular yorkie. A lot of owners say they never could housebreak the dog, because they are so small that they don't get a sense of respect for the whole home. A lot of them are litter box trained. There are also the health issues. If you like yorkies, look into getting a regular sized one.

You really should do some research. My mom has a teacup poodle. Sure, she's sweet and absolutely adorable, but she also has a lot of medical problems. Most dogs that are breed to be that small, 'teacup', get sick very very easy. There immune system are not as strong as other dogs. Mom has spent a lot of $ at the vets office.

there is no such breed as a TEACUP yorkie,,,, some irresponsible breeder has given this label to a poorly bred , undersized yorkie , who did not turn out to meet yorkie breed standards..... I would strongly suggest you go to AKC.ORG and click on "toy breeds" and read about each and every dog in this group... you may find that there are different breeds that would suit you........ don't fall prey to these backyard breeders so-called designer dogs,,

No. You are overpaying a dishonest breeder for a poor quality dog. Anyone who uses the term "teacup" is violating the rules of their parent club and is basically a used car salesman.

If you are interested in a Yorkie, visit http://www.ytca.org to learn more about them and visit lots of sites about how to find a good breeder. Again, NO good breeder sells "teacup" dogs.

Good luck to you.

I couldn't find info on teacup yorkies but the site below is a good one for pros and cons of teacup chihuahuas. Realistically it isn't a wise move though, you are just asking for a dog with health problems and who may die shortly after you get it. It is your choice but I wouldn't purchase a runt.

Yorkies are great dogs. But unless you are looking to show the dog. I would not spend anything above $500. As look at Silkies, Schnauzers, Shitzu, Cairne Terriers, Westies, Scotties, Poodles. There are a lot small dogs. Granted I prefer a Yorkie also. Because for there size, they are a lot of dog.

i have a Yorkie-Poo and i must say that she is the best dog that i have owned. she's not "yappy" like yorkie's normally are and she has a great personality AND she does not shed at all. she is full grown and weighs 9lbs.. i would suggest really putting some thought into buying a yorkie...they tend to be annoying.
