Now is the proper age to have her spayed. Why do you want to wait and see how it goes??? A female in season is a mess, she will drip blood or you will be changing diapers on her....You also increase the chance of cancer by 80% by letting her have her first heat cycle. Not only that the whole spay becomes much riskier after the first heat cycle. Once they have come into heat, the uterus now has its full blood supply, making it an even more intricate surgery. Thus the cost of spaying will go up significantly.

Please do NOT wait.

Usually a dog will go into heat anywhere between 6 and 12 months of age. All of my Shih Tzus have gone into heat around 9 months old.

Just for a heads-up, her first heat will go something like this:
She will start to bleed, and spot up your carpet, furniture, and even clothing. She will be whiny, needy, and even possibly "aggressive" towards other dogs. (She will snip and growl usually.) She will do her best to get out of your yard to get towards male dogs, and they towards her. Even if you think she is safely contained in your yard, don't bet on it! You will see a larger amount of stray dogs in your neighborhood and some of them, statistically speaking, will not be friendly. This puts her at risk, as well as yourself.

I am not trying to be mean, I just want you prepared. People who aren't prepared are more likely to have a accidental pregnancy on their hands, or much worse!

Also, keep in mind that fixing her is better for her. The more often a dog goes into heat, the more likely she is to develop several different types of cancer. She will be a happier and healthier dog if she were fixed. Good luck to you! I hope you the best!

about 8 months old.. but please get her spayed when she is 6 months old we dont need any shih-tzu, chihuahua, pug mixes running around! She will be a better pet by listening to you and stay by your side instead of running off to find a mate =)

She will come to heat between 8 - 9 months old. Although, usually the first heat can arrive earlier than that (6 or 7 months).

I decided not to spray my dog - really, is not natural and at the end this may affect their hormones.

SPAYING HER WOULD PREVENT HER FROM COMING INTO HEAT ..THAT'S WHY SHE IS COMING INTO HEAT !
