If you've ever owned a pomeranian, or know alot about small dogs, i've got question:
what do pomeranians usually weigh at 14-15 weeks age? just an estimate, i know its not a set weight when they're young, but i'm curious as to how big is he for his age. Is he almost at his full wieght at 16 weeks? It's been bugging me, i'm not arguing his size, just wondering if it's normal or is he going to be a larger pom. :)

hey guys,
My friend just lost one of her dogs (they have 3) only about 6 months ago. Now this other dog, (the one she's the most attatched to) has just been diagnosed with cancer. The vet recommended putting him down since he's too old to even survive surgery.Anyway my friend has had a really rough year and these are 2 blows that she just can't deal with. As a fellow dog owner, I share her pain. Anyway guys, my question is, besides being there for her, is there something I can buy for the dog, I mean does anyone know of a website or store that will specialize in creating a very nice memory book of the dog. Any suggestions would really help. Thanks.

I have been getting a lot of comments about my dog from other dog owners when they see my dog running after a ball in the dog park, for easy an hour or more non-stop flat out, they think he's a puppy but he is four going on five, when I tell them his age they seem amazed, he's getting a bit of a reputation. He is an 85# Bouvier with it seems endless energy. Is this normal, should I encourage him or slow him down.?

My female golden gave birth to 11 puppies on Friday. Starting Saturday night she has had bad diarrhea. I know she retained at least 1 placenta but the vet gave her a Oxytoxin shot. She however did eat the rest of placenta's which I know can give her diarrhea but given the fact she had them in the middle of the night I had no help and wasn't given any other choice. Her temp is 101.5 and she still has a healthy appetite. So is the fact she ate to many placentas making her sick and how long will this last? Or is there something else I need to worry about.

About 9 hours ago we noticed labored breathing and a little bit of froth around her mouth. This has continued and worsened over the last nine hours. She appears to be convulsing (legs twitching, very short of breath) and has salivated so much that her entire bedding beneath her hed is saturated. Is this part of labor, do I need to be concerned?

I just got blessed with a 6 week old australian shepherd. I already had a 2 year old australian cattle dog and an 11 year old chihuahua. How can I make things easier on my older dogs? I know that I need to be sure to give them extra attention and not just lavish the new pup with attention, but the new pup is so demanding, how do I keep her happy and keep my other dogs from getting so jealous?

she's not an agressive dog, she's never growled or acted mean, it's just that when she decides that she wants to play, she starts grabbing and nipping and litterally wont stop. The fact that she's a large puppy, 72 lbs. only makes her more hard to handle. I've only had her about 1 month, everyone says to just give it time, she'll outgrow it. I don't know if I have enough physical strenth to last much longer. If only there was some "trick" to use to teach her then I could work on the problem, but as I said nothing I have tried so far will make her stop. I've had a couple people joke about it until they actually see what she does. It's like she goes crazy for a few minutes. Other than this problem, she's very good, smart and well mannered. I really love her and don't want to give her up, I just lost my dog of 15 years to old age. Getting Sheena has helped a little to ease that heartbreak, but she's wearing me out...

When I got home from work she had not eaten all day and had dierhea and had been vometing. Took her to vet and they hydrated her and gave her a shot of antibotics and something to stop the vometing and dierhea and pills to do the same thing. That all stopped by Thurs. I go to work and on Sat. when I get home the same thing is starting all over again. She did eat for me(dog food from the vet) and seams to be fine but will stop on occation and put her but up in the air like her tummy is hurting. Calling the vet again today. We havenot found an answer yet. Has any one got one for me?

I,ve had my yorkie pup for two weeks.I am crate training him and there has been no problem with bed wetting until yesterday and today. In his crate is his bed and blanket and a puppy training mat,he has always used the mat during the night expect for the last two nights. I have awoken to a dry mat and a wet bed.It is very unusual for puppies to soil their own bed, what could be the reason? He is certainly not afraid of the crate as he voluntarily goes there during the day when he is tired.

How many people agree with me that these processes are disgusting and inhumane? Why do we still do it? How sad that some sick 'experts' in the dog show world have decided that mutilating dogs horribly makes them more attractive..

or on chains, and forget about them never take them out of the yard off the chain they just water and feed them and thats it. They never come into a house or ever see what is on the other side of the fence. Could you even think what that animal must go thru. Never to leave the area he is put in and only see peoople 5 mins a day to feed you if they even get feed every day. Do you think there should be a law aginst this kind of animal abuse. I don't think they even do any thing to the people unless they get a complaint . I think people who do this should be band from ever owning an animal and put on a chain for a couple of weeks to see how the react. What do you think.

What is the difference between Frontline and the grocery store brands? Do the major brands such as Frontline or Advantage really work better than the cheaper brands I could buy in the grocery store? I would like to keep my dog protected from fleas and ticks, but do I really need to buy the more expensive brands to keep him protected?

Rendering plants process decomposing animal carcasses, large roadkill and euthanised dogs and cats into a dry protein product that is sold to the pet food industry. One small plant in Quebec, Ontario, renders 10 tons (22,000 pounds) of dogs and cats per week. The Quebec Ministry of Agriculture states that "the fur is not removed from dogs and cats" and that "dead animals are cooked together with viscera, bones and fat at 115° C (235° F) for 20 minutes".

The US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is aware of the use of rendered dogs and cats in pet foods, but has stated: "CVM has not acted to specifically prohibit the rendering of pets. However, that is not to say that the practise of using this material in pet food is condoned by the CVM."

Some of these dead pets - those euthanised by veterinarians - already contain pentobarbital before treatment with the denaturing process.

We have a boxer dog she is 2 yrs old and adores us as we adore her and we go out or put her outside she jumps an 8 ft fence also she hasnt lost her playfulness as a pup and greets anything or anyone by leaping on them and we are talking anything that has a heart beat. Things have changed with work and stuff and she is left at home alone more often but we really dont want to give her up or tie her up.
