hi girls,
well how old are you? i ask because you need to always remember your dog is a lifetime obligation, and that could be from 10 to 15 years! and if you are a teenagish? and maybe also dating and planning a move from home, in say 5 to 10 years, well unless your parents want the dog too, you may find it hard to rent a place with a pet.
also what security do you have? good fences? you own your home? a good sized area for run and play or if not a handy park?
white carpets and pale furniture are not a dogs best friend.if mums houseproud, then a short haired dog with decor blending fur is a good idea! ie not a rottweiler in a pale decor home! :-)
poodles dont shed...BUT they need grooming if you don,t do it you have to pay, and that could be say $40 a time minimum 3 x a year. puppy puddles are not everyones easy problem, maybe a slightly older dog from a rescue home.??
who is going to earn the yearly immunisation fees? and food and maybe medicine from time to time?
and also whats the climate? a dog with heaps of fur does,nt belong in a hot yard. ok if it,s an inside aircon home, but is it??and dog welcome? i also strongly recommend you Both attend a kennel club puppy school ,before you get your pet. they are to train the owners and some early learning will help you and your new friend when you do get one.
all the best and i hope you do get your pet! IF you consider the pet first!! and can meet the needs. Laurel

How old are you? Are you old enough to handle the responsibility of owning a dog, it costs alot of money and you have to ave money incase of an emergency!! I did not get my own dog until I was sixteen with a job and extra money and time to spend raising a puppy. If this fits your description bring that up to your parents and I'm sure they will come around!

You just need to show responsibility. If they see you are responsible enough then they might look into getting you a dog. DONT PUSH IT. Never say, "So, am i responsible enough yet?". You just have to be patient and wait.
