Keep in touch with the vet, because a loss of appetite is really not normal for a dog! At the first sign of other symptoms ring them straight away. Make sure he always has fresh water.
Some behaviour problems can cause this, but you would probably have noticed other symptoms at the same time, such as anxiety or depression.
Try washing his bowl in very hot water and washing up liquid, then rinsing well. Don't use the dishwasher, the tablets can give them mouth ulcers.
Give him very small portions and leave him alone while he eats, leave him for 15 minutes then take the food up and throw it away if its untouched.
Keep an eye on him and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

I have 3 jack russells and they are all fussy. My vet told me to starve them for one day when they do this, as they have such a small constitution, this helps them detox their body, and they will be happy to eat the next day. Also once a month put a clove of garlic in their food crushed, it helps digestion and keeps the worms away, even though they end up with garlic breath.

My male Kerry Blue Tigger went through terrible problems with diet; the vet suggested that I feed him one source of Protein, in my case chicken until his appetite returned to normal.

I now feed him on Chicken mixed with a HA Hypoallergenic dog food.

Tigger had problems from day one with other diets and frequently produced watery stools and was very sick.

Since switching to the chicken and HA Diet he has had no real problems at all.

Here are the steps we went through:

1.Start your dog off on one handful of pure chicken then this will produce very small compact stools this will give the dog’s system time to recover.
2.After a few days start to gradually introduce a mixture of Chicken and HA Diet Kibble (We use James Wellbeloved Turkey and Rice Kibble) I am sure other quality brands will be just as good.
3.When the dog returns to normal give 1 handful of Chicken to every two handfuls of Kibble.

If the problem is diet or allergy related this should help a lot as many dogs are allergic to Gluten which is found in the Wheat in many dog foods.

You should still see a vet as there may be antibiotics or anti inflammatory injections or tablets required in the short term.

I hope this helps and your dog gets better!

Here is some other interesting stuff in relation to HA Diets:

Our dog wouldn't really eat anything so we had to start feeding him chicken breast, rice, oxo cube and bran flakes every meal because he can only eat certain things and he would eat after that! so it may be the food you are feeding them. try changing it to something different or add something extra to as a treat for them!

have you changed his food recently? my jack russell will only eat certain types of kitekat, not the ones with fish, and only chunks in jelly. fussy git!

or else have you noticed any bits missing off any of his toys? maybe he has swallowed something he shouldn't have?

if it was my Jack I would be inclined to get a second opinion as its not usual for any dog to go without food for so long

Get a second opinion...thats to long to go without food...is he drinking? he might need xrays because he might have an obstruction? or he might need bloodwork done?...whatever you do he needs medical attention.ASAP...not normal to go without food for that many days. there is a reason and you need to find it out...good luck...smile
