Life happens and anyone of us could be facing the same situation. Don't let the hypocrites judge you. I find it being very responsible you are looking to place the dogs rather than just dumping them at the local shelter. You can contact rescues, run ads and talk to your vet. I re-homed a dog once to a family that just had their dog put down. My vet gave me the referral. This dog just didn't like being around other dogs. She went to a very nice family that still sends me Christmas cards and updates on her. Good Luck. I am sure you already feel quilty and sad enough and you dont need anyone jumping on your back here.

Please contact breed rescues in your area. I can guaruntee that a greyhound rescue will take your girl. If you adopted her from a group they most likely have a clause in their contract that you must return her to them. Even if you have since moved they should be the first place you call. My group recently had a similar situation where the owners needed to rehome a dog but had moved over 1,000 miles away. We were able to network with another group in their new state that picked the dog up in 24 hours. If you didn't adopt her from a group, or the group is no longer in existance, check out http://www.greyhoundpets.org for a state by state listing of groups. You may also want to post on http://www.GreyTalk.com if that doesn't work.
For boxer rescues go to http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm#607 and scroll down, there are more than a dozen listed, both national and regional groups.

I'll be very honest in saying this sorta thing really bugs me. You should have found a new house that would take your pets.
Start by telling all your friends and coworkers that the dogs are available, so you can interview them in your home to make sure they would be good owners. If this doesn't work, contact rescue groups in your area to see if they have names of people the may be interested in the kind of dogs that you have. Don't just give them away to anyone. The greyhound especially has probably formed a strong bond with you and both deserve your efforts to find a good, loving home.
Good luck.

Go to petfinder.com and find a rescue in your area and tell them your situation. If your not moving for a couple of months they might offer the ad under their rescue heading. But they should be able to take them in.. there are even some rescues that take in certain breeds like greyhounds and boxers.

I do not think anyone should judge you as to why you cannot take the dogs with you. It is evident that you are doing the right thing by trying to find responsible owner's to love your dogs as you have loved them. I agree with most posters that Petfinder.com is a great place to list your pets. You may also want to place flyer's in local veterinary offices, at least you know that the people that see the flyer there are taking their pets there for medical care. There are a great number of greyhound rescues for the 4 year old. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

Petfinder is good. You could also try Craigslist. I have rescued several animals from there. There are also several groups on Yahoo that specialize in finding homes for displaced pets. If nothing else, please please find a no-kill shelter in your area like the SPCA. Dont make the animal suffer any more than it has to. And next time I ask that you consider the future before accepting any more pets in your life. I have 2 dogs that I would NEVER get rid of, any more than I would get rid of my son. They should be, and are, family members and should be treated as such.

Would the breeder of your Boxer not take him back for you and rehome him? Try contacting greyhound rescue for your greyhound.

Find a rescue for both the dogs and tell them whats going on with your situation. They can best help place your pets with new owners.

Go to Craigslist and find your local area. Take pictures of them and store the pictures on line. Put links in a free ad under pets and decide who you think has the best home for them. Easy, and you know more about your dogs than anyone, you will know where they are and be able to choose who gets them.
