Although Boxers are the breed that has captured my heart. I would nominate the English Mastiff as king since so many breeds started with the Mastiff.

No question about it, it has to be the Newfoundland. I have 2 large black males weighing in at 12 stone and 13 stone yet they are the most gentle of giants - just had a slobbery face shoved into my lap - they are loving to each other, they adore children and any human that so much as looks at them. They are protective when I require it and independent when I can't be bothered. They look after me and each other as well as being natural water life savers.------- They are also slobbery, hairy, eat me out of house and home and keep me doing housework 24 hours a day!! I have had other breeds including great danes, alsations, spaniels and labradors but although I loved the others with all my heart at the time, nothing compares to the magnificent Newfoundland.

Mine would have to be the Cairn Terrier or the Pug because they are both loyal and sweet animals. They both will protect you (pugs will gum the bad guy to death lol cause of there short mouth.) And they will love you no matter what. I mean dont get me wrong labs and stuff are nice but once you have had a cairn terrier or a pug you will know who is the best of the best please pick those 2 breeds. i hope this answers your question.

oooh that's a hard one, depends what the dog is used for. Gun dogs, goldens or spaniels. Farmers can use collies etc but a good all rounder... Depens on the characteristics of an idividual dog. Personally I adove st bernards and goldens. But it is just my opinion. If a dog is raised to be statley, loving and loyal surely its those dogs who are the kings and queens of the dog world. Regardless of their breeds.

Pekingese if you looking for a one owner dog. The are loyal to the core and I have never seen one destroy stuff by chewing. They have great personality's. They will live and breath for their owners. They are good alert dogs when someone pulls up in the yard. Good travel companion.

I would have to say a rottweiler. It is one of the most versatile breeds! It is loyal to its family, is a working/herding dog, is used as a rescue dog, and is a great protector. A wonderful, wonderful breed.
