Dogs can travel without restriction within the British Isles, which also includes travelling between the UK, the Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
The best thing to do would be to contact transport companies directly to see if they will accept your pet on board, and the cost to do so etc.
You might find this link useful, sourced from the Defra website, which shows a list of transport companies that operate the Pet Travel Scheme, so will have experience of carrying pet dogs.
Hope this helps

There are only a few airlines that will carry dogs, and they go as cargo. The same rules apply as they would travel international, insured, vaccinated etc. I am guessing that most airlines that fly from UK to UK would not take dogs on board. Personally you would be better of by rail or car

As far as I'm aware carriers in the UK do not allow dogs in the cabin unless they are assistance dogs. They will always have to be booked in as cargo which can be quite expensive. So yes they can travel on flights but the chances are in the hold.

I know trains can be more expensive than planes but your better off travelling by rail.Your dog would have to travel in the cargo hold on a plane and it would be very expensive.
