I am temporarily living in a campground because of work. Anyways my mother in law came to visit and this campground has a lot of rules on dogs. I have two, a golden retriever and a min pin. To my mother in law it seemed easier to take my goldie outside and brush her hair without putting her on a leash. While she is doing this a man is walking a shih tzu by my camper and the little dog came into our "yard" anyways well my dog decided to run up to the dog and bark at it. You know what most dogs do when there is a strange dog in their territory. Well my dog didn't touch the dog so thats good, my mother in law took my dog and put her away. She apologized to the man and the man was very rude and cussed at her. So then the following day I get a letter from park management saying my dog has to be gone by Friday, March 2. With no warning no phone call or anything. We've never had any sort of problem with my dog. So if anyone has any advise please help

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone all of it helped. Just so everyone knows my husband went and spoke to management and everything was straightened out. They apologized for the inconvenience and signed a paper stating that my dog could stay. Thanks to all.

You can try to explain this to the park ranger - but your mother in law is 100% at fault on this. Your mom should have respected the park rules. I think your mom in law should be the one to fight this battle for you. She should be going to the ranger and explaining why she was foolish enough to take your dog out without a leash.

I agree with talking to the park people and explaining the situation.

I notice the little dog entered your area...so was the little dog on a leash or was that owner ALSO breaking the park rules?

The down side is that if you can't convince the park to back down, you probably have no basis to appeal (though you can try).

Depends on too many factors for a generic answer here, though. Do look for local legal guidance, but first, try talking to the park authorities (and reading the regulations carefully).

Go to the park manager and let him hear your side. And explain what you saw happen. Right now all the manager knows is the other side. Present your side. Also reread the rules and regs on the topic.

There might a clause about how many notices you have to receive in order for them to be able to do what they are asking. It doesn't seem fair and there may be in their rules that may help you.

you are right if your dog did not actually touch the other dog it sounds like you did not do anything wrong. management and that man can not prevent a dog's NATURAL instincts. talk with management again you did not do anything wrong its the other mans problem for the time being see if your dog can live with your mom in law to get this settled

talk to the manager and explain your side of the story, be assertive and request that you be given another chance, if there is a rule that dogs need to be leashed he may be within his right to ask you to remove the dog, but again explain what happened and be as apologetic as possible, if that doesnt work, contact your local consumer affairs office and ask them for advice on the legality of the situation

I guess it depends on the rules....but I would talk to the manager or even the owner to tell them what happend, god only know what the grumpy old man said happend. I wouldnt get rid of your dog, fight then as much as you can, thats your pet

you may need a lawyer for this one, if you cant get one go to the manager and tell him exactly what happened. chances are that if the guy was so wuick to get angry he didnt tell the full story to the manager. I hope everything turns out well
