I doubt a vet would be willing (or even legally allowed) to sell what you need. And there's 2 shots required and you really need to know what you're doing. I do know that most vets are willing to come to your house to put a pet to sleep because it's much less stressful for everyone.

Those drugs are controlled, and your pet can be euthanized at home but If you do a little web surfing, you could obtain the ingredients and make your own ways to do it with small animals. Check out the site I posted below... Otherwise you might want to have a vet come out and do it if its a dog or something. Euthanasia is a widely accepted manner in which to end suffering in animals. It is a common veterinary procedure of terminating an animal's life in a reasonably painless manner by means of lethal injection which initiates cardiac and respiratory arrest. Euthanasia is almost always performed by a veterinarian or trained veterinary technician and performed by the request of the pet's owner. Now on home euthanasia...Some pets are good candidates for home euthanasia, and others are not. There is no isoflurane inhalant gas at home, so an excitable or easily stressed pet will generally benefit from the added technology available at the clinic. This is especially true of cats and tiny dogs, since they have very small veins that need excellent light and possibly a bit of hair shaved to view. At- home euthanasia has the potential to become unpleasant with poor lighting and a lot of tension and emotion present in both the owners and the vet. (Remember that if the injection goes under the skin rather than in the vein, it stings). I feel that large, calm dogs are the only good candidates for an at- home procedure. I have been lucky and have had cats and tiny dogs go smoothly, but I was very tense and stressed because the potential for something to go wrong is great. However, if you must have your pet euthanized at home, don't be reluctant to make some phone calls and you will be able to find a veterinarian who will accommodate your wishes. If not, then you have some important research and networking to do.

You have been given excellent advice.
BUT a neighbor of mine in the same position said he did not have $50 which the vet said he would require.
Intstead, as he had to do with a badly damaged horse a few years ago, he took his dear old friend to the woods and ended his life with one bullet to the head. He then placed him in a three foot grave which he had dug among the wild flowers under the beechnut tree.
Last week, he told me he often takes that path through the woods and stops for a moment, remembering with great joy, the good times he and his dog had travelled that route.

Unfortunately I don't think that they will just give you the shots. Some vets will make housecalls for this, but not many. It is usually best to let the vet handle this because the owners are usually very upset and you want it done correctly to minimize the pain for the animal.

Some Vets will go to your home to do it. If you have a large dog and getting him to the Vet would be very difficult, he may just come out.
My Vet does.
It is against the law for you to have the drug that is used. It has to be administered by a Vet
I am so sorry. My heart is with you.

I don’t believe so.
Something so important really should be done by someone who knows what they’re doing 100%. If you made a mistake, your pet could suffer needlessly.
I understand that you want your pet to die in a place he/she is comfortable, but your presence is all they really need, even if it has to be at the vet’s office. It can help to bring a blanket or pillow that your dog loves so he/she feels more at home.

No, they cannot give you or sell you the injections. Some vets will come to your house and do it. It is alot more private and allows both the owners and dog to be in the comfort of their own home.

no, the drug, usually called 'beuthanasia' is a controlled substance, as it can be used to end the life of any mammal, humans included. so the government is very strict as to it's use. there are forms the vet has to fill out each time it is used, and has to account for every single milliliter used.

Not in the United States, as the drugs used for putting dogs down are controlled substances under federal law (Federal Drug Administration).

No you can't! You may ask if the vet can make a house call instead. Some will others wont.
