my dog, lacy has been getting into our trash can quite often, AND eating our food off of the dinner table which are things she would sometimes do, but lately, it has been a LOT! i don't know what the right way to discipline her would be! i would like something that is effective and i DO NOT want to cause her pain, whatsoever. thnx!

As I said I have tried the treats I even bought the dog food with breathe freshener but that lasted seconds after he eats and then the old stand by me brushing his teeth and tongue with baking soda and that does work but he really doesn't like it

I have two 5 1/2 mo. old choc labs. I've noticed lately that they don't want to eat. I feed them twice a day. They used to eat their whole bowl both times, but now I've resorted to adding "treats" to their dry food to get them to eat. Even that doesn't always work. I picked up some of their spilled food off of the floor last night & both of them wanted to eat out of my hand. I'm not sure what to do. They've even started turning away from their Kongs. They will, however, eat their treats for doing something good, or when they've gone outside to potty. Not sure what to do or if something may be wrong.

What can I do to get my dog to stop barking?? She gets up everyday at 5:30 AM and I take her outside. Once I see her go pee and poop I take her back in and put her back in her crate and go back to sleep. Sometimes she will go back to sleep, but most of the time she barks and I have to put her somewhere else to get some sleep! (Usually, I put her in the large laundry room with some treats and toys) Even then she still barks and cries!!! How can I get her to realize that as long as I am asleep that she needs to be quiet? And it is not that she is already hungry or anything, because any attemp to feed her before 8:00 AM does not work. She simply does not get it!! How can I make her understand??

my grandpa is very old fashioned to where he will only take his dog to the vet if she is sick or hurt..shes never been to the vet for her shots..i buy them at the feed store and give them to her so she has some type of protection..my question is if I have records and reciepts of these shots can a take her to one of those rabies clinics at the fair grounds and get her her rabies shot?

my dog has seperation anxiety!!! She is a 6 month old yorkie puppy and she is left alone for 4 hours 3 days a week while i am at school/parents at work. Ahe is allowed to roam the large laundry room we have during that time. Whenever she is in the crate and I leave the room, she freaks out and will NOT stop barking. She cries when I put her in her crate. But this is not all the time though.... sometimes I can tell her "coco, I will be right back" and she will not get upset. That is very rare though. How can I get rid of this seperation anxiety?

My puppy is 7 months old, today he is being neutered and I will pick him up tomorrow. This is my first pet and was wondering what he may be like when I pick him up; if he will be very sore and whatnot...and anything I can get to make him more comfortable. Thanks.

I have a female spayed pit bull that is just about a year old. There is no doubt in my mind that she goes by my energy around strangers 75% of the time. If I am comfortable and steady- she will act the same. However, there are days where a kid- say about 11 yrs old walks by and she lunges and barks with her hair raised. Just certain people she decides to not like at all. It is embarrassing to take her out in public b/c I don't know who she will decide to like and who she won't. It doesn't matter race or size. She is the same way with dogs. Some she likes, and some she doesn't-big or small..male or female. I have spanked her and made her submit to the other dog or person by putting her on her back and petting her and talking to her while they get on her level and talk to her. This doesn't seem to change her attitude much. I also make sure to remain calm and tell her how wonderful she is when she shows no sign of aggression. I want to be able to socialize her and be in public.

Being the co-director of a rescue, it's up to me and my partner to make the decision to take a dog into the rescue or not. One of our dogs that we had taken in, we were really attached to. He was older. He was adopted and was doing great with his family. The oldest son of the family, 10, was petting him, accidentally touched the dog's infected ear, and the dog turned around and snapped at him, catching a hold of the kid's face. Becuase of the dog bite, and a rabies scare that's going on here, Animal Control was called and demanded that the dog be put to sleep. (Please don't go on about dog breeds and vicious dogs, the dog was a lab). We were able to work it out to have our vet do it instead of Animal Control, that way, the family can be there to say good bye. I've never had to deal with this before. I was wondering, for those of you who have, how did you deal with it?
