I have a Geram Shepherd which I love very much. I have had him since he was a pup 7 years ago. He has always been a very good dog, very loyal and VERY obedient. However over the past few months he has gotten out of control. He acts nervous all the time and his energy level has shot through the roof. I have put flea medicine on him religiously since he was a pup but now he acts like I am killing him. I have to use force in everything I do with him. He is not aggressive just completely obstinate. I am at the end of my rope. I could understand if he was a pup but good grief he is 7 and never acted like this before. I am getting to the point that I do not even want to be around him. I know that sounds bad but believe me when I say everything I do with him or to him is a chore. I don't understand what his problem is. He has been to the vet and recieved a clear bill of health. I am contemplating putting him on medication because I cannot take this.

He is a pretty laid-back dog and seems to be getting enough exercise. I just want to make sure that I'm not forcing him to hold it too much during the day.

My roomate and i can't even leave the room to go to the bathroom or the puppy will be on top of the coffee table chewing and eating anything in sight. She has knocked over numerous drinks and tried to eat anything that she thinks could be food. I don't want her to get sick, hurt herself, or destroy something I need. I have been working with her on the off comand, but that seems to be going nowhere. What can I do??

I was on vacation and my Akita was at the kennel for two weeks. Since he has been home (5 days), he has barely ate anything and once he does within two hours he has the runs. Has anyone experienced this problem? Could he have a kennel bug? Or is he just not feeling well. Please help me ... I am getting worried about him.

I have a 7 year old Staffy and he has a hell of a time with itch! I have tried everything from this special oil made from sea cucumbers to zinc to bicarb... Nothing seems to help him?? I have a feeling that since he had it from such a young age (he was dumped and when we found him he was riddled with it) maybe he is just itching as force of habit? And has anyone heard anything good about Chickweed gel for Staff itch?

We just got a dog from the shelter last week and he is crated at night. Approximately 6 of 8 hours in his crate he is restless and barks non-stop. It's not a huge concern as far as us getting sleep as we're upstairs and can only faintly hear him. I'm concerned that he is going to drive himself crazy or make him so restless he hyperventilates or something. He is a 10 month old Boston Terrier. He only barks while in his cage.

I let my American Eskimo run around outside today and when she came in her claws were bleeding. They look as if she wore them down just from running. I keep them trim as far as they can go without hitting the nerve so how did this happen? She doesn't act like it's hurts, but I want to know what I can use as a disinfectant?

All flea powders and shampoos say not to use them on dogs under the age of 12 weeks... does anyone have any suggestions on something that can be used before that age? I did shampoo him and combed him with a fine tooth comb but they are still on him.

We were in contact with the vet. I induced vomiting within probably five minutes as per vet instruction. Everybody is snoozing now because (I hope) of the trauma of syringing the peroxide and general human and animal trauma. I just feel horrible and want to know when I can stop beating myself up with worry and quilt.

My nieces lovely miniature schaunzer has the vets baffled. He is 8 years old and is going blind, I have just read up on the breed and found that they can suffer from hereditary Progressive atrophy. (An eye condition} but besides that he is always ravenous, drinks load of water and, in general, not the dog he used to be. All symptoms of diabetes but tests are clear. There is blood and protein in his urine but not sugar. He has had injections for a prostrate problem but remains the same. His owner has spent £400 so far without finding a diagnosis. The next step apparently is an MRI scan that will cost her £1500.00 but if said scan finds "something" in the brain it is not treatable anyway. Has anybody any clue at all. Thanks.

Our 13 week old pup is normally calm and playful. But when coming home from a walk, usually within view of the house, he goes a little crazy, chewing and tugging on the leash, jumping up on us, nipping pant legs, growling etc...he will do this all the way to the front door. It doesn't matter if it was a short or long walk.

I want to give her the best start in life :) She has all the best toys, lots of love and attention (especially from my 7 year old Staffy boy, now known as Mumma!). Any suggestions for the best way to start Training and obedience Training?
She seems very smart but is obviously very overwhelmed with the big change so I did not want to overload her too soon.. Any age too young to start Training?

what a veterinarian is?

I'm sorry to sound rude, but geez! The number of health/injury related questions! I am tired of typing "take your dog to a vet"....Anyone else?

I can understand when you've already contacted the vet and are in waiting only on here hoping someone else has been through what you're going through, but the rest?
