Your walk schedule is great! and, Thanks so much for adopting an older dog. My sheltie is almost 15 now, so you should have plenty of years with your new friend.
Do make sure to take him out one more time for a quick pee right before bedtime...
Congrats and you sound like an excellent owner!
Blessings- dd

I walk my Little pug three times a day but make sure you find a place when your little sheltie can let it rip in a large yard or field they are herding dogs and are well behaved but still need that run once in a while they are beautiful dogs with good spirit I had one as a young lady and little Flower still lives in my heart

I have 2 Miniature Pinschers, ages 9 & 11, and I do about the same thing!
During the work week, I walk them in the morning, during lunch, when I get home from work, then before I go to bed.
On the weekends, when I can see them more, I walk them 3 times. In the morning, later in the afternoon, then before I go to bed.
I do it 4 times during the week b/c I'm awake (as are they) longer.

Lucky dog. He's good with 3 walks. I have a 4 year old Wheaton & she gets 3 walks a day as well.

I don't think he is haveing to hold it too much. He would let you know. Do you have a fenced-in yard where he could just play? My sheltied absolutely loved to play ... she would go out and stay out for a couple of hours and amuse herself the entire time.

I would say that you're walking him plenty. He's lucky to have an owner how enjoys walking him.
Being eight years old though I would just tell you to keep an eye on him. If he has the energy then walk him, if he doesn't seem to want to go then you shouldn't force him.
