Ok this might seem a little goofy but...I'm planning to get a pigeon egg(or chick) from a friend to hand raise at some point this year. Although just outta curiousity, ya think I should video tape the egg hatching and post it on youtube.com?

I've got a video camera and youtube.com user account. Other then that, whatcha think?

I know it takes 18 to 20 days for a pigeon egg to hatch but I do have a major concern. When egg starts hatching IF the chick has a hard time getting out should I help it or let him(or her) figure it out?

(No jokes or wisecracks, allowed!)

My friend has been feeding seagulls aspirin in bread, they love it, then after a little while they explode. I find this hard to believe, he is going to show me after school today, does it really work?

I had a pet cockatiel when I was a teenager, but I can't remember how much I really enjoyed having it as a pet. Do they make good pets? pros/cons? (She died young from an illness, so I didnt have her around for very long)

I heard that cat's have poison in their claws and teeth that can kill a small bird within seconds. If this is true I would rest easier knowing that my birds died quickly and didn't have to endure the torture. I feel so guilty when I look at the aftermath; feathers everywhere, wings torn off, and I found my Parakeets head in my backyard.

the ext office said that feeding turkey or gamebird feed when starting the chicks boosts the growth of the broilers. is that true? i would feed the turkey or gamebird feed as a starter then switched over to a grower ration.

How do I know if my budgie is depressed? We have another keet that he's been around quite a bit but I've brought my bird to college now. I've only had him for about a month and a half, but he's been with the other bird quite a bit of that. He just hasn't been happy the past few days, he doesn't chirp or play, he just sits and hardly eats. What should I do?

In Vegas(where I am) the temps have gotten up to the 70s and 80s on certain days. As a result I leave my ceiling fan running and my window open to cool off the room.

If I had a homemade incubator in my room would the temp in the incubator be effected by the temperature in my bedroom?

the temp in the incubator gets to be about 99 to 100 degrees. I'm NOT using it right now, but I wanted to know.

I have had 2 cockatiels my whole life and I absolutely adore them and have raised them well. I know cockatiels are mostly generally sweeter birds and easier to raise, but I'm looking to get another larger bird, possibly a cockatoo...or what other kinds would you suggest?

Please, only answer if you know how to get rid of the bird and not to lecture me about "animal rights" or to ask me "How in the world can you not like the chirping of a bird???" cause I don't need any of this, I got plenty of this kind of answer on the Spanish Y!A.....

I've had a cockatiel, Latrell, for over a year now. He used to love playing with my miniature dachshud and they were inseparable. He was barely ever in his cage unless I was at school. But now I have two new puppies. They're hounds, so naturally they want to eat the poor guy. I only take him out now like once a week, and he's very angered by it. I feel really bad, so I thought maybe I could get a parakeet to keep him company so he doesn't feel so alone. I used to have a cockatiel and a parakeet and they were best friends. They shared the same cage and everything. I'm hoping this is normal, and that it would work for Latrell too. Does anyone know if cockatiels and parakeets can really live together and be happy about it? If so, does gender matter?
