I heard that cat's have poison in their claws and teeth that can kill a small bird within seconds. If this is true I would rest easier knowing that my birds died quickly and didn't have to endure the torture. I feel so guilty when I look at the aftermath; feathers everywhere, wings torn off, and I found my Parakeets head in my backyard.

No poison, but the cat probably chomped down on it very quickly to kill it, then played with it and strew the feathers and stuff.

I actually heard about them having some type of toxin in their teeth that can poison smaller things. (i.e birds and mice that's why we don't get any effects.) But I never heard of the claws having it. Well weather they suffered or not they're in a good place right now where no cat can torment them. Next time you get more keep the cat away though.

No poison but next time please keep your cat away from your parakeet or any bird for that matter. Get a cage that you can lock and make sure that your cat cannot knock it down and torture the birds inside.

Hard to say, but my guess is they suffered. I once found my dogs playing with a bird they'd managed to catch in my back yard. The poor thing had a couple large open wounds on it where the dogs had bitten it, and it was frantically hopping around trying to get away, but it couldn't fly because it had a broken wing. I'll spare you the description of how I killed it, but suffice it to say it was *very* quick and probably the most painless thing that bird had experienced since my dogs caught it. Who knows how long they were playing with it.

I know cats are different from dogs in a lot of ways, but I would not be surprised if your cat played with those birds for a while before killing them.

Sorry to break this to you, but cats have no poison in their claws or teeth - in fact, they have no poison at all. They do usually have some nasty bacteria under their nails, but infection wouldn't be a problem unless your birds had gotten away. Not only that, cat's often like to play with their prey - holding it down without killing it, maybe injuring it to slow it down, then letting it go so that they can have the fun of catching it all over again. It may sound like torture, but in reality it's a cat's way of keeping in practice, in case they have to hunt for their food in the future.

Cats have no such thing! Usually, cats catch something and whip it around and quickly bite it all over to try to snap it's neck, so I'd guess your birds' deaths weren't painless, but they were quick. Your cat doesn't sound like it would goof around with them, it seriously hunted, killed, then ate them. Nice and neat (figuratively speaking).

Lol cats dont have poison in their claws
and yes it was painful for ur bird
predators try not to make their preys suffer....as seen in tigers, a relative to cats, they go for the throat for a quick kill. But birds are too small so ur parakeet was most likely crushed to death.....sometimes pain is inevitable in death.
a dismembered parakeet's head brought laughter to my life

Never ask what you don't want to know.

I am sorry, though.
