My friend has been feeding seagulls aspirin in bread, they love it, then after a little while they explode. I find this hard to believe, he is going to show me after school today, does it really work?

Sorry, just an urban legend.

Just like feeding pigeons rice and they explode, this doesn't happen either.

Your friend is pulling your chain. Its a total myth. By the way, cruelty to animals is the first sign of serious mental problems. Most violent criminals begin that way. I would seriously think about what you are doing if this appeals to you. Talk to your parents or a teacher.

I dont understand why anyone told this kid that its not aspirin, and told him what works?

Very sad and Cruel, please dont hurt the seagulls, you could get into a lot of trouble as well.

If your caught doing anything that cruel to any animal you will get into alot of trouble. There are laws now that protect innocent animals from monsters like you and your friend.

Not asprin, but alka-seltzer, which has aspirin in it. Birds can't burp, and alka-seltzer fizzes when water is added to it. So yes, they do explode when fed alka-seltzer, but please take my word for it and don't try it, that's mean and cruel.

Rice doesn't make them explode, but it does swell up and rupture the stomach.

It wouldn't work with plain asprin, it would have to be the stuff that fizzes. My dad told me he used to do it with bicarbonate of soda and it worked.

It horrible though, so please don't!

:-)
