In my town house complex we have a few pigeons who hang out around the front. Across from my place, there's still some construction going on. With the pigeons around, could it be possible that they might've built a nest in one of the buildings?

My pet male cockatiel, 5 yrs, hides in any "dark place", then screeches specifically for female family members to find him, then stages these goofy spread wing mock-attacks. He obviously enjoys it...it goes on all day long. Typical behavior?

If a bird tweets and moves around a lot, does he like the song that's playing?

Is it cruel to have birds in a cage? They have wings and are meant to fly and humans are trapping them?
Or are we saving them from extinction or falling prey to big birds?
Are they happier with us? Or out in the open?
Give reasons for your answers.

Will she accept a new mate? Her mate died of some mystery illness a couple of weeks ago (she's fine), and her incessant squawking for him is starting to make me think about sage and onion. I would rather make her happy again. They did have rather an active sex life and she did pester him rather when he was really ill at the end.

And any ideas where I can find a single male lovebird about 6 years old? In NE England.

Thanks.

I have had some sick birdies, and a lot of them have died over winter.

This guy at work suggested that I should euthanize the entire flock, sterilize the room and wait for several months for the bacteria to die, and start over.

Is that really necessary? I mean, they probably have a parasite, but as long as they are quarantiened here, what harm are they doing?

okay, i have an African Grey parrot, her name is Dutchess. I've had her for almost a year now & she's about 20 or so years old. At first, things were pretty rough but with me working with her things got better. She now steps up and gives kisses, which is far from her climbing about the cage and striking at my my hand every chance she got [what she use to do]. I'm now thinking about getting her a friend...question is...what kind? For a while i was thinking about breeding her [for i have reason to believe she was a breeder before] but a few ppl have been telling me that she wouldn't be 'pet material' anymore. so what do i do? i was thinking maybe just getting her a friend but i'm not sure what kind or how to set things up. what kind of bird would be good with her? another grey? or maybe something different?
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

It looks like they're cleaning each others heads. They do it in the evening when they're roosting.

My lovebird pulled off the jewelry to one of my piercings. The jewelry is a small 2mm diamond set in white gold with about a 4 mm stem (this pushes into another part to hold it in place). He was flying around with it in his beak and when I finally caught him it wasn't in his beak anymore. I don't know if he dropped it and I just can't find it (it's so small) or if he swallowed it. If he did swallow it, is he going to die? Might he spit it up? Is there anything I can do? If he is going to die how long will it take? I'm very upset. Please, serious answers only.

I got my conure one year ago this month and just added two baby parakeets. I have the conure in a big cage and have the small cage on top. I let the conure out of the cage and he seems okay with them. I have not tried to take the parakeets out yet, but was hoping I can eventually put the birds in the same cage? What is the easiest way to go about getting them out of the small cage? Any insight would be great!

Okay- my incredibly Hot girlfriend has a cute little Japanese Silkie rooster, whose name is Harry. But, please understand that he's cuter than most other Chickens, because he has curly hair. He is so adorable when he walks, dances, etc.

Okay- the other day, my girlfriend put Harry in this little purple cage (since it was cold out). She had him in the house. So then, my girlfriend gave Harry a bowl full of fresh wah wah and corn to eat, and he got really really excited! He put one foot in the water bowl, and one foot in the corn bowl and started dancing!!!!! He spilled 90% of his water, and all the corn. My girlfriend was yelling at him to "stop Harry!" but the more she yelled, the faster he danced! LOL.

She finally had to just leave Harry clucking and scratching all the while. The end! : )

I've tried the rental places but they only rent vans local and I'm not going to put them in a bobtail truck. I would like to rent a van because there are a few other things that I have to move also.

I'm thinking of hand rasing a pigeon I plan to get from a friend in LA at some point. The bird will be in my room but there is one thing though... my family's pug sleeps on my bed. He gets along with other dogs, we once stayed at friend's house and he managed to co-exist with her cat. My main concern is will he get along with a baby pigeon?

He's a gentle and friendly pug, I've read about several other people who's dogs have gotten along with birds, but still would I possibly get the same results?
