This bird is definitely a green wing macaw. You can tell by the feathers on its face and by the green feathers near the bird's back. Green wings are often mistaken for scarlets, but scarlet macaws aren't quite as rich with their red, have no face feathers and their wings have yellow rather than green markings. Hybridization often occurs between these species and you can tell a hybrid by its facial feathers and yellow and green wing feathers. Artists also confuse the two and add face feathers to what is supposed to be a scarlet macaw.

What makes things even more confusing is that Scarlets and green wings live in roughly the same range in South America. They both use the salt licks beside the Amazon river, but you can differentiate the two by the green wing macaw's larger size. The Green wing Macaw is the second largest parrot alive. The only species bigger is the Hyacinth Macaw.

Beautiful!

It appears to me to be a Scarlet Macaw.

Additional Comment:

I agree that it is a Green Winged Macaw. Yesterday I saw one at a bird store and I thought then that it looked very much like the bird in the picture. Good call.
