Well, I don't know why she's squeaking, but my cockatiel makes weird squeaky noises when he's looking for someone to mate with :D And also when he's looking for attention.

Watch her closely. Does she look uncomfortable (like she's coughing, or has something stuck in her throat)? Other signs she's sick could be: unusual droppings (watery, loose, funny coloured) sitting with feathers puffed up (for longer than usual), looking tired, apathetic or less alert than usual, discharge from the nostrils... well, just google it.

If you think she is sick, get to a vet ASAP, cause birds can get very sick quite fast. Find a vet who specialises in birds/small animals, as an ordinary vet is quite hopeless with birds. (Do this even if the bird isn't sick, it's good to know for the future) If your dear little birdie is ever sick, here's a hot tip from my vet: wrap the cage in glad wrap (like a mini greenhouse). Cut a small square near the bottom and shine a reading lamp into the cage, which will raise the temp inside to about 30 degrees C. This sounds like waaay too hot, but when they're sick, birds need it really warm. Keep said birdie warm until you can get to the vet (even if you have to leave the light on overnight).

Good luck!

In most cases birds don't make noises when they are sick... They make noises just because they can and its a way to express themselves...when they are happy, that is when they make the most noises.

Birds in the wild, if they show any sign of weakness/illness they are killed. So they hide their illnesses. Usually when you realize your bird is sick its either too late or the bird is VERY sick.

Signs of illness are when the bird is at the bottom of the cage and not perching, constantly fluffed up, goo in eyes or nose/beak, sneezing, not eating, shaking...the pretty obvious stuff. You will need to see an AVIAN vet. Any regular vet will not be able to diagnose your bird reliably. An avian vet is licensed to treat and see birds.

If you concerned still, then I highly recommend you take your bird to an Avian vet. Better safe then sorry! Better to see the expert and be sure then to ignore your instincts and regret it later.

USUALLY WHEN A BIRD IS SICK THEY DON'T MAKE ANY NOISE AT ALL. I HAVE 2 COCKATIELS THAT ARE OVER 8 YEARS OLD AND WHEN THEY GOT SICK FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER THEY BECAME VERY QUIET. MAYBE YOUR BIRD WANTS YOUR ATTENTION INSTEAD
