ok so im not a beginner in the weight training area or nutrition however i do suck at it because i cant really stick to a routine or plan because of me reading and hearing many different things. my questions are:
a) people and books say it is impossible to gain muscle while losing body fat/weight. it is either gain or cut. is this true?
b) i read in a book today that your muscles need 5 days to recover after a workout. and i have seen many workout plans where you only work one muscle group once per week. is this the BEST way to workout? i have ALWAYS done twice a week per muscle.

As an athlete I have a very fast metabolism and am hungry all the time. Although I usually eat very clean, I do tend to cheat once in a while, particularly during the holiday season. So just curious: how much if at all will a one-day binge set you back from an athletic/overall health standpoint?

Hey everyone...I don't know why, but lately I've been feeling extremely hungry almost all the time...I don't know why!! I'm 14 years old and I'm a gymnast. I train 10 hours a week, so I am very active. I try to stay away from junk food so I usually eat a lot more of things like 100 calories packs snacks, peanuts, granola bars, etc. But I have been feeling faint and dizzy in school and at gymnastics practice and getting headaches even if I just ate like an hour before!! Can somebody please tell me what's wrong?? Thanks!

I have lost 6lbs in two days from eating a healthy diet and swimming. I drink a lot of water, yet people have said that maybe it's just water weight. Is this possible if I am replacing the water lost by drinking a lot of water? I can't see how that can be the case.

I have two questions regarding bodybuilding nutrition. First off I know drinking lots of water is essential. But I don't really care much for water so can I substitute juice for water? And secondly, I weigh 165 lbs, so every day I'm trying to consume 165g of protein. I eat a lot of chicken fingers because of their high protein content but I'm worried about the unhealthy nature of chicken fingers. So I guess my second question is, are some sources of protein better than others?

I know that using steriods causes testosterone levels to fall or something like that. I was wondering, does over-the-counter creatine or whey protein cause the same thing to happen? I hope not.

I'm 5'3" and weigh about 110 lbs at most. (I've never weighed heavier than that.) I don't excercise and I don't even like walking anywhere but I eat A LOT. I'm petite now but I'm afraid that it will catch up to me when I'm older. How can I prevent that? I don't want to eat less or work out.

This is how much I eat on an average day...
breakfast - two english muffins, some cereal, tots and a smoothie.
lunch - two sandwiches, pasta salad, fries, junk food (pretzels, chips, chocolate)
snack - two doublecheeseburgers at mcdonalds or burgers from in n out
dinner - pasta, lots of bread, rice and any carb that I can get a hold of! cookies and cakes for dessert.
snack before I sleep - another set of burgers and milkshakes

is that a lot!?

Is 2 OZ of pasta really the same thing as 1/4 of a cup? becuase if it is that means that only around 7 pieces of pasta is 200 calories, that isn't a lot. So is this really true that 2 OZ of pasta = 1/4 cup?

Hi I'm kevin and my height is 5'7 also i weigh around 210 lbs. My question is how do I gain muscle in my arms and chest area? Currently I am having trouble doing push ups and my max is about 3 and also i cannot do any pullups. I don' have a bench but i do have a set of dumbbells . The reason for me asking this easily answered question is in 5 weeks i am leaving for a military school and I don't want to be struggling while everyone one else is doing it with ease.

Please help if you havr any ieas.
