I have two questions regarding bodybuilding nutrition. First off I know drinking lots of water is essential. But I don't really care much for water so can I substitute juice for water? And secondly, I weigh 165 lbs, so every day I'm trying to consume 165g of protein. I eat a lot of chicken fingers because of their high protein content but I'm worried about the unhealthy nature of chicken fingers. So I guess my second question is, are some sources of protein better than others?

you would only want to use juice for about 10% of the water intake. juices contains carbs and to the body it's the same thing as eating. digestive enzymes are release, blood sugar increases, insulin levels increase, etc. this is why the liquids need to be calorie free.

and yes the source of protein is very important. skinless chicken is obviously health but the coating on the fingers is not as it's made from processed carbohydrates. you can surely eat them on occasion but they should not be the main source of protein. you can get high quality protein from eggs, dairy, fish/seafood, lean red meat, lean pork and powdered protein supplements.

I cant stand drinking water either so I add those fruit flavored powders to the water. The non-caloric kind. For protein I would stay away from the Chicken fingers of they are breaded. Very fattening. Instead eat low fat Turkey or Chicken cold cuts on a Whole wheat bagel. The bagel alone has 10 grams of protein on top of what the cold cuts will add. That and drink Whey Protein powder mixed with water.

juice is high-sugar beverage and it is best to be consumed after workout for carbohydrates so they can help your muscle recover and prevent breakdown....other hours of the day just gives you calories which still can be good if ur focusing in muscle development...your quantity of protein is excellent but you can get a way much better quality by using a mix of egg protein, milk, soy etc by a protein supplement named: OPTIMUM PRO COMPLEX which contains 8 kinds of protein and vitamins for better absorption..hope this help ya

Protien question first:
Yes there are better sources - salmon, fish, egg whites, chicken even protien powders.

Water question:
Juices are not nearly as good as water. Higher sugar and calories and the glycemic effect as well.
