cholesterol does not cause health problems, the carrier of it can.

cholesterol is carried by either the healthy high density lipoproteins (HDL) or the artery clogging low density lipoproteins (LDL). this is why the ratio of HDL:LDL is more important than the total cholesterol value.

The cholesterol accumulates in your blood, then clogs your arteries, and could cause a heart attack or stroke. When my husband had his heart attack, his cholesterol was 177, so 200 is not good enough, as they used to tell us. You need to have it lower.
