I have lost 6lbs in two days from eating a healthy diet and swimming. I drink a lot of water, yet people have said that maybe it's just water weight. Is this possible if I am replacing the water lost by drinking a lot of water? I can't see how that can be the case.

I heard from my aunt that when you start a diet the first 5pounds lost in the first week is mostly water weight but if you drank a gallon or so in about a 4 hour span and weighed yourself and still weighed only like 1 or 2 pounds more then it's all fat baby, good job! (if it is fat)

it's basic human biology. the body stores excess nutrients as lipids in the fat cell for times of famine. the body does not transition from a state of fat storage to that of accelerated fatty acid oxidation, unfortunately this is how the body works.

it typically takes a good 3-4 works on a healthy and balanced diet for the metabolism to shift and for there to be measurable fat loss through body fat analysis.

in order for the lipids stored in fat cells to be used for energy they must first be converted into the cellular energy source called ATP. ATP is used by skeletal muscle for all muscular contractions and all anabolic and catabolic processes. the body will only use so much ATP in a 24 hr period regardless of the diet or level of exercise. to date scientists do not know why ATP levels will not fall below 60% in skeletal muscle even after a muscle is exhausted to complete failure. this is why fat loss is such a slow process.
