I know I only want a small, simple ceremony, with close family & friends. My partner & I are paying for everything ourselves, so we don't want to be paying hundreds of dollars for meals etc, for people we never see!
Does this sound selfish?
I just don't want people to feel left out. Someone suggested I only invite close family & friends to the actual ceremony and then have perhaps a BBQ type reception and invite a lot more people. Would that work ??

My mother in law has always been a pain. Lately though she has been worse. We asked her to let the plumber into our apartment when we were working. When I got home that day from work she had snooped through our home including bathroom and bedroom and preceeded to tell me how dirty my home was, how cluttered, how I don't have the right cleaning supplies, how my laundry isn't sorted right , my beds weren't made and on and on! This is a weekday when both of us work. I was appauld by this! This isn't the first time this has happened either. She wants to control our lives right down to the day I do my grocery shopping. She tells me she is so upset because I don't go on Thurs when the store has sales! i go when I have time and when I CAN! Does anyone know what to do in this case and is this crazy or am I overreacting?

Me and my female friend have been friends for about a year now I can we have become really good friends. We have hung out many times before. We two do like interested in eachother. So I asked her on a date and she said yes. She just wanted to let me know that she doesn't want to lead me on because she is also interested in two other guys that are her friends and she dated them before. She just wanted to make sure it didn't bug me that she was dating the other two guys. At least she was honest! So it was cool with me..guess I would call it casual dating I guess.
Anyway, we are going to see a movie and have dinner afterwards. Any advice that I should know for a first date? clothes?, how to act, Please let me know!
Thank you!

He works night shift and I work day shift, it seems like all he ever does is sleep. And if he does wake up he is in such a grumpy mood. We end up agruing and fighting in front of my four year old daughter and he goes into the bedroom and goes back to sleep. I don't know how to fix this situation. And to make matters worse, I'm eight months pregnant with his first child. I don't want to be misrible anymore but don't really know how to communicate with my husband. And don't want to live in an divided household.

I'm not talking about the one's born in the U.S., like the one's that were born in their native country and came to the U.S. for higher eduacation (college in this case). Well I happen to know a lot of Koreans and I sort of want to venture of and hook up with this Korean girl that, of course speaks Korean all the time to my friends when I'm sitting there nodding my head cluelessly. I do say things but it's in english...I guess you could say i'm the token american guy. The girls do ask me a lot of questions like where I'm from, what languages can I speak, "what are you doing here?", "Can you speak Korean?", "Are you Korean?" and what not. So asians out there, could you help me out here with some impressive pick up lines/conversation starters or how to act a certain way to attract the girls?

ok so my husband is gone away for work. he does this occasionally, and its usually overnight or two. sometimes it feels like he doesnt reallly want to call e, and i dont think he would if i didnt ask him to. so he got off work at 530 tonite, called me around 10 and we chatted for a few minutes. i told him that i missed him and all he said was oh yea? and the conversation moved on. i told him i was going to go because he didnt seem to be in much of a talkative mood. we said our i love yous and goodbyes and hung up. i called back like a minute later just to tell him that i really missed him a lot and wished he was home with me and our 4 month old son. he said is that so? well thats good to know. no "i miss you too" or anything. is it because hes happy to be away from me? i would hate for it to be that... i think we're happy together. we have our ups and downs and we're in kind of a rough patch right now but we still love each other and are best friends... whats up with him?

how did it change your relationship?

Husband possibly cheat - no hard evidence; very little in common with the spouse; I really want a companion to grow old with which I thought I had found - but he changed after a few years into the marriage. We seem to be night and day on all subjects, even how to raise the children. Been through one divorce and don't want to do it again; Without a companion / bestfriend to share everything with life can be unhappy. Being single again with the potential of not finding a true companion really makes one wonder "Is it worth going back out there, or just keep trying to make this one work?" We have had counseling and discussed our differences. It seems he'll change just long enough to soften the waters, then back to old habits. I feel I have give 150% most of our marriage. At this point I don't even try because I know what will happen.

My husband and I have 4 kids between us. The 7 year old is his from a previous marriage, the 6 and 3 years old are mine from a previous marriage and the 9 month old is ours together. So, both of us are step parents. My three year old calls my husband her "steppie daddy." I love that, it's sweet without stepping on her "real" dad's place, but my oldest just calls him by his name and his calls my by my name. I'm wondering if there are other words/names/terms of endearment out there that can be used for a step-parent that gives us a special spot. Our kids are still actively involved with their bio parents, so calling us mom and dad might be cause some tension. Any ideas? Give me a list of five of your favorites.

We are both is our late 20's, and she lives by herself, but her mother comes to visit every single weekend. ( a 2-1/2 hour drive) My GF doesn't seem to want to confront her or upset her, but I can tell that her mother can sometimes upset her. She calls all the time, and always wants my GF to check in with her when she gets home, etc, etc. My GF doesn't have her own car, and she doesn't make a whole lot of money and says she can't afford car insurance, etc. So she is still on her parents Insurance, and driving a car in her parents name. She uses things like this as leverage to get her way and guilt my GF into doing what she wants. My GF thinks she is threatened by her relationship with me, and that she gets upset easily when things (like plans) change. Her mom doesn't have any friends, and I get the feeling her and her Husband aren't happy. I don't know what to tell her to do. I like her mother and father, but It would be nice if her mom just backed off once in a while and let her be.
