To be honest, I have been thinking about this very question on my own life. The disclaimer: this question was only meant to be thought provoking, don't answer if you feel your spouse or significant other would feel offended by your answer. Hey, I don't want to cause a conflict over a question on Yahoo Answers!

I'm currently a junior in college(3 hours from home), and have a boyfriend who's also in college. My freshman year here, i had dozens of friends, always something to do. Now that we're a little older we've drifted apart (some dropped out, moved to different cities, just lost touch). Lately, I've been depressed feeling like i really don't have many friends to hang out with. All of the people i consider friends have boyfriends and girlfriends (as do i) and we devote all our time to that person as well as school and/or work. I see lots of people in their close knit groups of friends and find myself getting jealous that i dont have the same kind of small network. I'm getting involved in new clubs on campus to try to meet new people, but i'm worried that it's too late in the game to make the "life-long" friends you meet when you're younger.

To those of you who are 20-something...do you notice this happening to you, or am I really alone on this one?

*one time my feet got so swollen from sitting that when i got home i couldn't walk for a day so my swolling would go down
*slept in the Greyhound station for 12 hours since they overbooked
*signed a petition against Greyhound at 1:00 in the morning
*smacked in the face by a methaddict
*sat next to smelly crying babies
*surrounded by ex-murderers/gangsters

I love him to death! We've been through ups & downs & for about the past 2 yrs we've been great (he's 26 & I'm 23) . But since he is on his third year of being an architect he has been working long hours, like going to work at 7 a.m. & getting home at 9 p.m. - and really this bothers me because he told me "this is how it's going to be, and this is what I went to school for." Since we're just dating I want to show him that I'm understanding, but really I'm stuck. I want to give him an ultimatum and say, "either I understand with a ring on my left finger since I'm not going to be going through this ordeal of seeing you very little, or we break up because you're making work your number one priority without knowing if I'll have a future with you."
Is this harsh?
Also, I just need advice from those who have dated architects, engineers, etc, someone from a professional field and how did you deal with it?
He still lives with his parents so it's not like I can stay the night with him.

My husband says he doesn't love me anymore and wants a divorce. He wants to be free to see other women. We have a child together. I still love him even though he is a selfish jerk. Any advice out there? I am desperate at this point.

My husband and I got into a fight over me quitting my job simply because I didn't like it. He said I was being selfish and spoiled, and he didn't think he married a spoiled brat. He started yelling and cursing at me and I just yelled and cursed him back. It was really loud and we live in a boarding house so everyone heard us. Now, when I walk by in the hall they all look at me like I'm nuts. I'm so sad about it and he won't even talk to me about it. I just tried to call his job but he keeps telling his co workers to say I'm not there. I don't know what to do with myself. I can't sleep and I don't feel like doing anything. He's all I got right now since my family aren't speaking to me for marrying him and all of my friends are away at college. We've only been married a month but we've been together for two years of high school and it's killing me not to speak to him. What should I do? Please help!

The first date was really bad, and I felt NOTHING for the guy at all. He is probably going to call tomorrow to ask me out again. What can I say that is not mean, but yet also clearly says "do not call me again."

Not a question. Just felt like telling someone. He did call from his business trip yesterday and tell the kids to make me a card. So it's not that the date slipped his mind.
He waited to call home tonight until he knew I would be out of the house at a meeting.
No I didn't want a gift. No, I didn't get him anything or say anything to him.
It is just such a farce of a marriage. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I think he is afraid of me. I wish he had the balls to say "What is wrong? Why don't we speak? Why don't we have sex?"
But I think he is too afraid that I will tell him the truth. That I don't love him.
So we just continue with this dysfunctional dance. Me waiting for him to say something, him hoping it will all be o.k. as long as it is never spoken about.
Twisted, huh?

I have a 15 month old girl, who is lovely. I have been crying alot for no particular reason, mainly in secret. I have a loving husband, but lately I just havent been into him. I dont feel like sex, and I have even started sleeping under a separate doona to him in the same bed. He knows somethings up. When he asks I say 'nothing, Im fine' bocs I cant pinpoint whats wrong. My husbands english, Im australian, we live in aust, but I hardly visit my family who live a few hours away. Next year we plan on going to england for a few years. It was mainly my decision to do it. My family think it was my husbands idea, and think 'he's trying to keep me away from them'. The situation sucks. I feel if I was 'myself', or how I used to be b4 the baby, I would have laughed it all off. But I cant seem to and everything keeps getting worse. Sometimes I just want things to be how they were a few years ago ... single, no child. I feel like I have nothing and I'm nobody. I dont know what to do.

I am in college and I have one of those myspace thingys online. I started a convo with this guy cause I know his best friend and they were both going to the same college I was. After having a small convo with him he later makes a move and sends me a message and was like call me sometime. Of course I was like that is soo cheezy so I dont really pay much attention, but I didnt stop talking to him cause of that. After about 3 weeks I finally see this guy in person and it was kinda awkward meeting him because of his unespected move online. I realized that I may actually kinda like him after meeting him (im wierd I kno). Well one night I decided to actually call him just to get to kno him. We talked for like 15 min cause we were both tired. After that I saw him a couple more times and had small convos with him but nothing too exciting really happened. Is it ok if I keep calling him to get to know him more? Does he realize that I may actually like him? And how do I know if he still likes me?

My boyfriend mentioned that he would like to live together before marriage. He definitely sees marriage in our future (a whole lot more than I do, actually)

I am not religious, nor was I brought up with any religion, but I feel that living together without making a legal commitment is not right for me.
I'm a bit disillusioned with marriage and I feel that in order to make it work, you don't need "trial runs" or any of that sort. Am I old fashioned or am I perfectly entitled to my own view?

My boyfriend(28) and I(23) have been dating for 5 months and he is so wonderful. We are very much in love and plan on getting married in the next 1.5 years. In everyway he is so good to me and everything I want in a man....

Today, he took me to the lake and said he needed to tell me something that he thought it was time I needed to know. He said he loved me so much and that is why he needed to tell me this. He said that he has 5 siblings and all of the have different fathers. He said that his mother was crazy when she was young and she wasn't the best mom. He said that his mom had an affair with a married man and that is how he was born. He was crying to me and had a lot of pain when he spoke.

Then he kept saying that know that he found love with me he appreciates it so much and he wants to have a real life and a normal life with me because of the bad memories of his parents.

How would you react? Would you love your bf/gf any less if he opened up to you like this?

Thank you

I think not. I am not trying to be narrow minded here, but I think its the sad truth. Any attrative looking man, will want a beautiful athletic thin women. If you see any broad hansom looking man with a girl, 95% of the time that girl will be hot, and thin.

some people say that its only about personality, but its not ONLY personality, its about looks. Look at Brad pitt, he is a hansom looking guy, and does he have an obese girlfriend? No, he has angelina jolie.

When I see a not so attractive women, who may be fairly overweight, looks nerdy or looks a little odd, I see the women with a man, who fits her standards, as fat and unkept. Call me narrow minded but its true.

My question: Do the women that are not exactly the Attractive type think a man should only like them for their personality, or is there more?

I'm really struggling. I don't want to get them something for the wedding (like cheap tacky jewelery) as a gift, but I'm on a budget and can't afford most of the things that I'm like "ooohh they would really like that!" (i.e. coach mini wristlet). I like these, but not sure if it's a good thank you gift or not. What would you think if you got it?
